Bleach plagiarized

Seems the son of the rockstar Gene Simmons has been up to naughty copypastas, making a comic out of 'homestyle' traces passed off as his own original work, no less. Kid couldve at least not used one of the most popular mangas in existence as a 'source of inspiration'.

Individual panels, expressions, character designs, perspectives, captions, clothing... You name it.

Details here, with lots of updates and comparative screens. Recommended to check it all.

- bleachness: Gene Simmons' son Plagiarizing Bleach?

heh that's some obvious plagiarism right there.
wouldn't be so bad if it was just a fan comic and not an officially published one.

i should add that his comic does look alot nicer than the bleach manga since its colored.
one of the reasons i don't read manga is due to the black and white art.

That's why graphic novels are better. But i don't see what this kid has to gain from copying someone else's work.

Is this kid selling the comics to make his own profit? I'm too lazy to read the article.

No seriously. He's a western artist. That other comic is manga. Everyone knows anybody who likes western comics will diss manga, so there's no way Gene Simmons' kid would draw like some yellow monkey. It's just some weird cosmic force that drives two people to draw the exact scene the same exact way at a different interval. That's gotta be the explanation.

Oh wait, he admitted himself to be Japanophile in an interview:
AR: You’re artistic technique clearly draws its influences from manga, that being said, who would you consider to be your biggest influences as an artist?

Kentaro Miura is my favorite artist right now -- he's not an influence as much as he is an unreachable goal. He's the moon that I'm shooting for -- and even if I miss, I may just land among the stars, as they say. His most recent work is so far beyond any other comic art I've ever seen.

Source: Nick Simmons: Bringing the Revenants to Life: Interviews & Features Archive - Comics Bulletin

Right. Kentaro Miura. Of course. That's where that obvious style is from. Okay.

This guys is interesting, I thought only country like mine dare to blatantly plagiate famous work. Isn't US law is harsh for something like this?

Quote:
VIZ Media, the American publisher of the Bleach manga, is currently looking into the matter and has "a team on it". Kubo Tite, the author of Bleach, has made a tweet acknowledging the plagiarism though he seems more "interested in the fact that Gene Simmons's son wants to be a mangaka".

Seems he ripped the work of one artist from deviantart "Rae"
Other than how sad it is to see these kind of rips passed off as original work, there isnt much of interest in this. Hopefully the next Bleach chapter does not suffer from this.

Gene Simmons' son stealing art?! - CNN iReport

Quote:
Gone are the days of stealing famous paintings and selling them on the black market. The era of heists that Hollywood romanticized has ended.

In the modern world, thieves now plague the internet, using popular art sites in order to steal, trace, and claim the art as their own. The general public isn’t well aware of this threat, but now that famous rocker Gene Simmons’ own son has been caught in the act, perhaps it’s time the world was more savvy.

Nick Simmons, son of Gene Simmons, claims to be an artist, even ‘creating’ and selling a comic which he claims to be his own ‘original’. Sorry Simmons, but it looks like fans of the comics you copied are smarter than you thought! Popular manga, or Japanese comic, Bleach, seems to be the main ‘inspiration’ that Simmons used when looking for things to trace and call his own. Not only that, but Simmons even goes so far as to not even state the manga-ka, or creator and artist of Bleach, Tite Kubo.

Now, we all know that tracing is a part of childhood. It’s part of learning, but tracing another’s hard work, income? And then claiming it not just as your own, but neglecting to give credit to the original artist? But our favorite art thief doesn’t just stop there! He goes to publish his comic, using his father’s name to help bolster sales!
Included are some images for comparison, but it doesn’t take a genius to see how oddly similar the images are. Artists are disgusted by his claim to be one of them, and fans are clamoring for justice!

Yet the questions remain: Will his father’s name protect him from plagiarizing? How were the publishers not able to see the similarities? And if they did, why did they not bring it up? In a case that reeks of foul play, many more questions will arise.
In the world of Photoshop, are such acts allowed?

The following links are included for those who are interested in gathering their own conclusions:

Incarnate
bleachness: Gene Simmons' son Plagiarizing Bleach?

The colored comic pages are 'drawn' by our lovable art theif: Nick Simmons. The black and white pictures are scans of the original, belonging to Tite Kubo.
Incarnate is published by Radical Comics.

The kid denies the obvious. He even suggests that facebook is looking to suspend the accounts of those who reported him.

Skip that, the delusional Nick even wants the debunkers to apologize to him.
