Quick Question
This isn't really an issue. Just a thought. Dolphin can emulate many Wii games fairly well, and I was just curious as to how? Was the Wii just easier to emulate some how? Or does Dolphin have a great crew of coders? I was just wondering since PS2 is still on it's way (but coming along nicely), and X-box is still barely getting started on the original. (Prolly due to lack of exciting xbox-specific titles imo) so the 360 prolly won't happen for many years. And yes I do understand why x-box is falling behind. It is difficult to code something so complex. Also the above mentioned lack of kick ass titles, unless you're horribly addicted to the Halo series ... I'm mostly just curious as to how exactly the wii was emulated so quickly. It even shares an emu with GC.

Short of the controls and updatable firmware bits, the Wii itself was pretty much just a more powerful gamecube. It got emulated pretty quickly since people were sharing any finds, and applying those to the main trunk (no keeping discoveries secret or hoarded). Open trunk, open contributions, putting finds to application or archive those when found. Its painfully burdensome enough to study hardware functioning, best be that any advances are ensured to survive the original finder, and open submitting to a public repository does the trick well enough. The process is not specific to just wii emulation in dolphin. The project was pretty much stagnant before it was opened. Last edited by Hard core Rikki; February 19th, 2010 at 15:38.. |

I see, well thanks for shedding some light on the subject.
