VBA Emerald cheatcode problems

I'm sure you've seen plenty of similar threads, but Ill ask that you humor me. I tried searching the forums, and didn't find an instance in which the same question was posed.

I'm running VBA 1.8 beta3, and I've been able to get no results from any of the codes I've tried to use, using GS, AR, and CB codes that I've gotten from gamefaqs, gamewinner, gameshark.com, and ign. I've used codes successfully on, say, Ruby/Sapphire, though I had to use older AR codes, which I found on gamefaqs, if I recall.

Is there anything that I need to do to get these to work that I don't know about?

Check if you're game isn't European(since the codes are for the USA version).
Also, make sure you must be on code is first, I tested it, and it will only work when it is first.

I got some codes from neoseeker.com to work using a master code. The code to generate all the berries didn't work, but the one to generate a pokeblock did, so I'm all set. Thanks.

I was trying to evolve a Feebas that I caught, and since the game thinks my battery is dead, the Berry trees won't grow, so I can't get any more Spelon berries.

"Options" -> "Emulator" -> Enable "Real Time Clock", close the emulator and open it again.
