FF8 FFVIII not working on epsxe 1.7
Hi guys and gals, im a complete noob at forums so forgive me if im a tard. Ive been trying to get ff8 to work on me and my bro's pc's for hours now and no success at all, i have seen hundreds of posts and threads, and tried loads of different configs and various plugins and even different emulators, still no joy. The game wont start at all , the screen just stays black after trying to load from disc 1 (pal discs). i have got loads of other games working perfectly on epsxe 1.7, but nothing i try fixes this one. If anyone could help me i would be very gratefull as i would love to play this classic again (the discs wont work in my ps3 either, how **** is that!). heres my pc specs; CPU; AMD athlon 64 X2 dual core 5600+ 2.9GHz RAM; 4 GB OS; 32 bit windows vista home premium Graphics card; ATI radeon HD 4600 Again this is my first ever thread, on my first ever forum so please be gentle, its my first time! Thanks in advance!

Emuforums.com - Downloads - CdrSaPu v1.3 Use CDR Sapu v1.3. Some PAL region PS1 games have a protection scheme built-in to the CD's subchannel data. A CDR plugin that can read the subchannel data is required in these cases.

Perhaps your CD/DVD-ROM cannot read subchannels properly? Have you tried playing from discs 2, 3, or 4?

I am also having problems with getting FF8 to run, it crashes in the dancing scene in the SeeD inauguration party. The music keeps playing but the game freezes, I am usin epsxe 1.7.0 and have tried it with 1.5.2, also I took an image from disc 1 and tried it with both versions, that didn't work either. I have an Ati HD 4870 display card, I updated the drivers to latest Catalyst but that didn't help. Can the problem be my cd's or something else?

I am having the exact same problem. The original discs nor the ISO's that I made seem to work, the screen stays black and nothing loads. This is the only game that I own that doesnt work with ePSXe 1.7.0 I hope someone can solve our crisis.

Our disks are protected mate, if you have a DVDRW then it should support the subchannel reads required to run it using SAPU CDR 1.3 directly from disk, or ripping it using CloneCD / Alcohol. Nero's NRG format should also work. |

Okay, Ive ripped with Alcohol and used the SaPu plugin and I still get the same results. However, I just reinstalled ePSXe 1.6.0 and could run the game from the disc. Ill keep experimenting, hopefully I can find a way to get it working on 1.7.

which Sapu do you have? 1.0 won't work well in epsxe 1.7 at all, the latest is 1.3
