I made a mod for RE5!

Anyone here looked into the RE4/5 modding scene?

Today I released my first mod for RE5!

I made it cause I always hated switching from RE1/2/3 on PS1 and going to RE4/5 and having incorrect buttons to my preferred PS1 style config!

ALL PICS ARE OF THE NEW 3.0 VERSION

More screenshots in the spoiler
Spoiler:

^^Short video of me playing the game poorly to show the mod in use

Below is the link for all language settings!
Mediafire - RE5 PS1 button mod - All Languages v3.0
MegaUpload - RE5 PS1 button mod - All Languages v3.0

MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP THE OLD FILES IF YOU WANNA GO BACK TO THE XBOX360 BUTTONS THAT THIS GAME USES BY DEFAULT

To use this mod you will need to set your controls as follows and follow the "READ ME" in the mod file for where to save the files

Original games XBOX360 buttons > My PS1 button mod

X = Cross = action/shoot while aiming (Same as all PS1 RE games)
Y = Circle = Inventory (Same as most PS1 RE games)
A = Square = Run (Same as ALL PS1 RE games)
B = Triangle = Partner action - Quick Event (Was never really used much in PS1 games)
RB = R1 = AIM (Same as ALL PS1 games)
LB = L1 = AIM with knife (The obvious place to put it)
RT = R2 = Map
LT = L2 = Locate partner

Many thanks to
evretibia for creating the "PS2/3 version" of this mod that didn't suit me but was my building block to making this one,
Sectus who gave me the key to getting this done right
Leon_me_kennedy1438 for his help a couple of months back (Even though it gave us no fruit at the time)
Everyone else at RE4/5 modding forums for if I didn't read all there advice over the past 4 months or even have the tools needed this also would have been impossible

Also be sure to check out the other cool mods that have been made for this game as well
RE4/5 Modding forums

And if you would prefer a proper PS3 layout please see this post for the down links

Thanx, It did take me the best part of 4 months to complete this but this was because one of the files I needed to edit was being a REAL pain in the butt and showing crazy bad artefacts/corrupt looking buttons ingame, but I finally conquered the file and as can be seen its running perfect in the pics above with NO errors

I am happy just to see it running on my pc for my needs, but felt the effort needed to do it made it worthy of official release

So what's the deal with you getting accused of ripping this mod? :P (aka this thread)

They even posted proof of the original source.

Still a very useful mod regardless.

It was the RE4 mod they accused me of ripping off not this RE5 one!

I actually did edit it but forgot to put credit in the readme for the guy who made the original and forgot to ask if he minded I edited it in the first place for my needs!

I have been banned for 14 days for it and upon my return will seek permissions from the original authors (I did mod myself, but it was as simple as renaming 4 files of another persons mod)

This mod (RE5 PS1 button mod) I have had no issues with and they seem more then happy to have it on the site

Just gotta wait 2 weeks to fix the mistakes I made with the release of the RE4 mod and fix the readme so it is all correct and credits the right people!

Part of the prob is I can't seem to take screenies of the mod running which would show how it differs from the mod they felt I ripped off!

I can take screenies for you :O

What do you need exactly?

Edit:
Damn, your mod interferes with my own mod.

For the RE4 one I need screenies that shows buttons

So quick time events/item pick ups/etc...
Just a shot from about 8 diff things!

Send me your gameResource_e in a PM and I will re-create it with my mod in it too (Your mod will be left untouched in the .ARC file) and PM it back

Already applied my fix to the gameresource file. And wow I have to get used to these controls. Stupid XBox controls made me work with a switched control setup in the Config. (Square became Circle, and vice versa). Time to practice some in Amateur Mode. Oh and sorry, I don't have RE4 on my comp right now, I thought you needed more screens for 5.

Oh ok, Yeah! I have had no issues with screen-grabbing RE5

RE4 though is a real pain in the butt!

Have fun with the mod, like you said Amateur mode will get you used to the old style again!
By 1 run through the game you should be very comfortable with the changes the mod makes

Plus if you still play PS1 RE1/2/3 games you will find switching between them far easier now with this mod as they are all pretty much the same config as this redesigned RE5 mod!

Yeah I kind of wish I recently played RE2 and 3 again instead of months ago. But I'll get used to it again pretty fast hopefully.

I still have a nasty habit right now of pressing Circle, which calls up the menu now, instead of "running" or "reloading"

Stick with it and you won't go back!

Especially if you do sit down to play the oldies on occasion!

As I said I made it for fans of the PS1 games config!

ie... me

Lol it's easy to get gold once you've beaten the game several times and unlocked infinite ammo for your weapons. You can just go to particular levels with treasures at the start, fetch them, exit the level, sell them, and then it'll be saved. Easy money. Right now I have 800k+ on my account, and still have over 200k worth of treasures in my storage.

I have played the game on my GF's save file more then mine which is the money for the save you see!
I have clocked up 67 hours, 23 minutes on my own save and 68,748 Gold

On my GF's save WE have clocked another 80 hours, 35 minutes of playtime together and 361621 gold as you noticed!

As xRyudo said, its actually VERY easy to do in RE5. Prob TOO easy

I hate youtube. I've been trying to upload a 800 MB Resident Evil 5 video. First time it failed due to a bug, and they thought it couldn't be recognized. (Even though it's the same format I always use). The second time I upload it, their site somehow screws up in the last % causing it to fail again. Right now the entire Youtube site is dead.
