FFIX texture moving glitch

Hi all! ^^

Well I've been searching for hours now about this little glitch. The texture on the characters always moves, the face, arms, well every moving part of body gets this weird texture or polygons glitch. Instead of staying straight and nice, the arms and the face seems to bug and moving every times the character stand or moves, this apply for every living characters in the game. Its not something that makes the game unplayable but it'll be so nice if I could get rid of that bug, cause the face looks uglier and I find it sad that I can't see them in their real form. I hope everything is understandable and I hope to get a solution ^^

Thanks!

Texture warping is not a bug.

Isn't there a way to get rid of that warping texture?

Edit: Sorry I didn't see the request you made, I'll try to put good pictures of that.

OK, I finally made up a video showing what I mean. Try putting it on fullscreen, you'll notice the moving parts better.

This.

The PS1 lacks a Z-buffer which results in warping textures and polygons. The same problem exists on the actual hardware too; it's just less noticeable due to the lower resolution.

Is there a way to fix that with a patch or a good configuration with plugins?

No. The higher the resolution, the more notable it becomes, even.

Damn, I guess I'll have to get used to that. Will there eventually be more included buffer in future epsxe?

Well thanks for answering me that fast ^^
I'll just finish the game like that, it is still a really nice looking game for it's age, I think I'll just have to appreciate the real fun of playing this game =)

Thanks!

I always wondered about that, cool that it is feasible for an emulator to change it also then, I'd like to see that.

Question though, some games warp FAR more than others, Tenchu and Tomb Raider being the worst examples I can think of and Ehrgeiz being an example of little to none. Or is that resolution related too? I know Ehrgeiz uses some form of higher res graphics but I wouldn't think it'd fix the z-buffer problem.

The warping is very noticeable in games like Chrono Cross, FF, Tomb Raider, etc. because of the abundance of "still" moments. By that I mean there are many situations when you are not being attacked and you often see your character's idle animation which often simulates breathing or perhaps swaying back and forth. These movements are small and subtle but are more easily noticed because these small movements often result in large changes in the "emulated" Z-buffer on your graphics card.

As stated before, the PS1 has no Z-buffer at all. Nothing can be done to change this. Your graphics card, however, requires Z-buffer data in order to display 3D graphics. ePSXe's hardware video plugins create a Z-buffer based on 3D data from the emulator itself. The precision of this Z-buffer is quite low compared to the precision used in a typical PC game. Much of the Z-buffer data is rounded to the nearest actual coordinate in 3-dimensional space. This rounding causes the noticeable warping and jumping of textures and polygons at higher than native resolution.

From what I've seen, Ehrgeiz has just as much warping, it's just that it's less noticeable since standing around idle means a lost fight. Your eyes focus more on the action itself rather than the warping textures.
