Nice.

I would like that the media give more coverage to emulators like this.

Although I don't know if that would raise some sort of action from console manufacturers.

The big N said sometime ago it would include HD in the future (likely due to widespread demand for higher quality visuals). For all we know they could feel the heat from emulators too, not just the competition.

I don't think HD would have made much difference on the Wii, but I can't see why HD would have added $150 to the price like some people mentioned or that Nintendo was taking a huge risk with the Wii.

They make money off every unit that sells, Sony and Microsoft started with expensive consoles and were/are losing money off every console. Poor sales when you're already losing money with every console made can hurt a company, whereas knowing you should eke out a profit with every console sold means it's harder to lose money.

In fact the Wii outsold the Gamecube and Nintendo didn't lose money on the Gamecube even though it was in 3rd place last generation.

Yay for dolphin, stealing the Wii limelight. And some of those comments are hilarious.

If the actual console could output the HD goodness, I would get one. Otherwise...I'll still wait.

It's funny how people keep saying Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo are going to take these emulation projects down but it hasn't happened yet. It's been what five or six years since the PCSX2 project started, longer for other emulation projects and they haven't been taken down yet. Goes to show their lack of awareness and knowledge on the legalities of emulation, where emulation has been deemed legal (Technically a legal gray area) according to the courts.

It's also funny how everyone immediately screams piracy when they see a game being emulated, when you are able to legitimately dump games you own.

There are other pointless comments of pure idiocy, but too much to list. After my run in with the retards at destructoid, I've decided to steer clear of the types of websites/blogs since for the most part they are quite uninformed.

I'm sure there are less people legitimately using the emulator with their own backups rather than those using it with the illeagal downloaded versions, so they have some level of accuracy with their comment. Besides, comments like this seem to be more of a jab at how cheap people are rather than the capabilities or moralities of using the emulaor "legitimately".

Well I don't see how "cheap" they are when they have to own a powerful PC to run the emulator, have broadband to download the games, have the time to download the games, and the hard drive space to store the games.

Most of the Wii games I own cost less than $30, and the Wii is pretty cheap at $200.

If they aren't willing to pay for their software, then they are cheap, Doesn't really matter if they spend all their cash on a high end rig. Even more so if their parents are funding their endevours.

If their parents can finance the computer hardware to run Wii games at full speed, they can finance a Wii and some used games!

I don't get it either, they are willing to shell out for an expensive rig to run the emulator and games but can't shell out for the actual hardware and games which you need to legally dump the games to use on the emulator in the first place.

Nothing makes sense in this weird and wonderful world we live in anymore.

Many people ignore that "legal" part altogether, however immoral that is.

ARStechnica just posted another news report on dolphin these days. New Super Mario Bros in 1080p HD glory. The ARS noobs couldve at least used an HD video that wasnt choppy, for maximum shock and disbelief.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii at 1080p? Video inside

A video showing New Super Mario Bros. Wii running at 1080p is making waves all over the Internet, and it looks like the emulator used to create the video is both available and working. Check out the video to see just how good the game looks in high definition.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is a great game, but how would it look running at 1080p? A video released to YouTube should answer that question. Its creator claims that the game is running under a PC emulator called "Dolphin," and the game is running at a solid 60 frames per second. That's not apparent in the video, which has a few errors and runs at a lower frame rate. Check out the video after the break, along with some information about the emulator.

You can only see so much with embedding, so go over to the original page to see it running at 1080p... it's worth the trip. The idea of a high definition Wii is, frankly, appetizing.
You can find instructions for running the emulator, as well as the files online, but it requires a rip of the game to play; there is, strictly speaking, no legal way to get a hold of one of those, so we're not going to do any testing ourselves. If you're an enterprising sort, however, you can give this a shot and see how things go.
Keep in mind the emulator seems to require a high-end computer, so put those expensive processors to work.

Speaking of New Super Mario Bros..

I'm currently playing it on Dolphin and am having a lot of fun, this game reminds me of the glory days on the NES and SNES with Super Mario Bros. 3.

Unfortunately, you can't "study" on a Wii. But you can study on a PC.

No, seriously, you'd be amazed at how many times that silly of a reason slapped me in the face. People spend like... $2000 on a computer for their 12-year-old son and hope that it would enable him to do research and stuffs... so that he can write a rocket trajectory calculating program a couple of years from then. But they absolutely refuse to spend even $1 on video games.

So what are the kid's choices?

It's weird they'll spend a serious amount of money on a Graphics card, doesn't Wii emulation require a heavy video card?
