Your logic is flawed. You're giving EA money for a virtual experience when you buy the game to begin with.

No, no it's not. As you say, I gave EA money for a virtual experience. The difference between yours and my expectations for that experience, is that I expected it to be a complete one. Instead, EA decided to, for a lack of better term, screw the fans in the part wherethesundontshine with their DLC strategy.

I read their pathetic excuses which serve to laughably mask their, unfortunately, successfull milking of the fans for all their worth, and it only makes the situation more sad. I shouldn't have to pay, nor I will, for content that should have been in the game already.

If you want to pay for "extra" DLC, then pay. Enjoy it, because that's the sad but inevitable future that gaming, both console and PC, is heading to. Pay for parts of the game in order to have a full one.

"Complete" is relative. Games are never complete, especially PC games. There's always expansions, mods, added content to be had.

In this case, the regular version of Dragon Age is the complete version. You will still have a long, fruitful game. Everything else is extra content. If you don't wanna pay for it, fine. But I don't think it's wrong. You can have the theatrical LOTR for 20 bucks, or the Extended for 25. You can have a regular McDonalds meal for 5 bucks, or the supersized one for 6.

In terms of games, added content is added work. They don't just pull all this content out their ass, it's a significant monetary investment on their parts to do it. I expect they want to see profit for their efforts.

No he's not. If the core game had 100 hours worth of content and EA made another 100hours worth of modules for 20 bucks he'd still be complaining.

If the DLC is worth the price you pay and you get your full money's worth out of it, I don't really see a huge problem with it. Buying the game doesn't mean you should get access to any future content made for the game.

Sure, the thing that sucks in this case is that the DLC is available at the release of the game, but as the story goes, this companion was removed from the game and was completed after the game was finished, and added back at the last minute. As an "excuse" to sell it as a DLC (and a bonus to the collector edition) it may sound ridiculous, but I think that talking as if it the game was less "complete" without it, and that this will set a horrible precedent, is even more ridiculous.

The game was completed without that character in it, it's already complete.
I can fully understand why people don't want to spend more money, I haven't gotten Shale and probably won't for a while, but your/our version of the game isn't somehow crippled because he's not in it. It's a bonus, that's all, and if they want a small bonus too (money-wise) because he was completed after the development of the game had ended, it's their right, no one is forced and the quality of the game (without shale) doesn't suffer from it at all.

(I'm personally gonna make sure to at least finish the game once before I make any decision, but considering how much I like the game, it seems an easy choice. If you just "like" the game, then no he's probably not worth the money and you may just pass. If you loved the game, he could be very interesting to have in a second playthrough.)

I normally would agree with that statement but the problem in Dragon Age Origins is that you just find the moron character that gives the quest and just stands there talking about it adding it i think to your journal (if not to your codex for sure) and after the only option you have is Download Content, that is retarded and no matter how you look at its like missing content to the game, like Thanakil said:

Its completely true (except for patches that remove bugs :P) and i never complained for other DLC's like the one for fallout 3 for example, but those where released after the game, without making the game feel incomplete.

In dragon age origins if they would have made the DLC's without including the stupid dialogues about them in the game i wouldn't not complain.

You can ask Morrigan to make some for you, she comes with Herbalism and can make Lesser potions (and maybe normal too? I don't remember if I was the one to buy the recipe or not). The Lesser ones have a very very very low cost to make, you can easily buy enough materials to make 100 of them and be set for a while.

The Herbalism button should be in her quickbar by default, you only need some Elfroot + flask I believe. The elves camp sell an infinite amount of Elfroot while the dwarf in your camp sells an infinite amount of flasks.

Also :
Spoiler:
If you go to the Lake zone and do the Circle of Magi quest line, you get Wynne, who's a healer type. Doing the Circle of Magi quest very early in the game is probably a good idea. Not only do you get her, but you also get a BUTTLOAD of stats. When in the "Fade" phase of the questline you'll find *many* little "shrines" or (whatever they're called) that increase your stats. Finding all of them is definitely worthwhile.

Christ this game is AMAZING.

Don't think I've ever played such an impressive WRPG. Truly, this thing is on a scale of its own.

Spoiler:
I've done the Circle of Magi bit, fought at Redcliff, and am currently stuck on Jarvia. ****ing hard game I tell you.

Is there alot of the game left?

I tried playing on nightmare.

You have three guess on what happened, and the first two don't count.

You do of course realize that a Console review of a point and click RPG will ALWAYS be bad right?
