you need something like partition magic to create a new partition on your hd. if you want it to be recognizable by your 98 os, then you must use the fat 32 filesystem. otherwise use the ntfs file system. once the new partition is formatted, you can install xp to it and it will take care of everything else.

its a more efficient file system which is used only by win2k or xp.

I'd check out powerquests website (the authors of partition magic). They have good step by step guides for most common partitioning questions.

NTFS should not be used by casual users. I can see you don't know much about it, so stick with FAT32. That way, you'll get access to C:\ or wherever using a DOS bootdisk if something bad happened.

uuum i don't know if you knew this but you can dual boot it just by installing windows xp...you did say you already had 98 right?

if you had xp installed before 98...that would be a problem but since you have 98 already installed,xp will detect it and make a dual boot by itself.

Sometimes you get lucky and it works. It worked with me but something happened with win 98 and I tried to reinstall it but unfortunetly, win98 overwritten the MBR and now things are screwed up on my comptuer. I somehow managed to get win2k back running on my computer but now I have a bunch of other OS's 'installed' but they aren't on my system. Oh well, I'll wait until March Break to fix up my computer...

[edit] btw, I have win2k not XP but its pretty much the same thing

Now, i should be more careful using some plugins now. *gets nervous* I'm getting a little scared that my computer doesn't screw up cause I don't like reinstalling windows all the time. It is a big waste of time!

Soylvak, I don't have Bomberman 64 so I can't help you out, sorry.
