Stop dammit! (Golden Sun)

In Golden Sun, my character seems to start walking, then he'll keep walking in that direction as if he's on ice or something. Remember those stupid puzzles in the caves Pokemon Gold/Silver? Kinda like those. Any idea on how to fix this?
