Those are some awesome speeds! Thank you for your contribution Dax.

@Phil
WTF! Why don't I see your name on the list.

Turn your computer into a space heater for a couple hours and contribute a work unit.

Eventhough my PC may pack a punch I am afraid I can't join. Power around here is not stable enough with a few power dips (where the lights go off and then come back on again instantly) plus then there's the 3GB data cap on my connection...

Also my PC does actually not get much idle time, I would say 90% of the time it's either in use by me, doing some encoding or running some sort of scan.

So, sorry guys but count me out on this one, great job you guys are doing though.

I just run it when I'm surfing the web. If I play a game, I turn it off.

@Phil
See? If you install and use a GPU client it'll only take a couple hours to complete. You have a 15 day deadline with most GPU work units, so it should be no problem for you...

That's about as much time as it requires my Radeon HD 2600Pro at work. I think you're getting stuck with some large WUs. Either that or GTX 260s / HD 4870s are really that much faster with CUDA/CAL.

Oh.

I guess they've stepped up the deadlines as faster cards are much more commonplace.

Seems that way. I was wrong about my iters/sec, I think. It seems to level out around 500-800 depending on when I open the window to check the status.

Good heavens Samor, you're not only a race monster when it comes to games. I hope you crash less though

So far I'm having problems with the client causing VPU recovers, and the even more dreaded NaN problems causing hours of work to be wasted. The VPU recovers seem to be heat related, this app is a little bit more senstive than gaming I think. Adding to that the viewer triggers one instantly. ATi definitely has some optimizing to do, though rumour has it it will be done for 9.3.

I plan to do a weekly work progress summary just to keep things interesting. It's great to see so many people working on it already. When I thought I had a nice position with my 4870 doing some good stuff when idling, my results were suddenly deminished by Samor's contributions this week. I've hardly seen him post at the forums though, so I wonder if he's just F5'ing at the statistics page, or simply too entranced by the viewer

Dax, D.D, and our Masta have done really nicely as well making a top 5 that has made it possible to bump us to the top 10% performing teams already in our first week.

Surprisingly, RAP must've been running it on his EEE, or just forgot to remove the underclock of his rig The most remarkable is Ahielia, despite having contributed 2 Work Units, no points have been given. Hope it doesn't discourage you

Finally, this thread has been stickified so you won't have to dig through everything. Keep up the good work!

Does it matter if you keep the GPU viewer open, or does it bog the performance down? I can't tell..

How are points allocated anyway? I haven't bothered to look this up, but it seems strange that at 2 WU, Ahielia has zero points.

Speaking of which, this is probably the pace I'll be at for a while. Slow compared to the GPU folders, but stead at 24/7 productivity (I doubt the average cpu loads on 2 DNS, one antivirus, a fileshare, and a virtualcentre will deter from folding@home much )

Each WU is assigned a point value. FahMon is a decent way of knowing how many pts. something is worth.
