Oh well, the noise doesn't really bug me too much. F@H only runs when I'm not home

BTW, what's with the WU? Some people have less then me but have more points?... Am I doing it wrong ?

I ran with -advmethods for a while, potentially unstable WU's but rewards are higher.

As far as I can tell, the WU count is kinda screwy... Out of my 11 WUs, there may only be 8 that actually counted (and gave points). Out of Phil 27 WUs, there may also be only 7-10 WUs that actually counted and gave him points. (I think he got 11 WUs, in a very short amount of time, before he actually had one that was real)

You probably had something similar happen to you, it sent false WU so they didn't reward any points, no idea why that happens tho.

I do the same thing. I get almost 2,000 points per WU since I accept beta units.

-advmethods is what I run as well.

It seems to me though that my points per WU aren't really that high though. Maybe there is discrepancy between CPU WU and GPU WU.

There aren't as many advanced cores available for the uniprocessor client. The ones that are available aren't worth as much as the experimental SMP and GPU cores.

The SMP client averages 1920 points per WU for me. I just wish I had a quad core and a higher clock speed to make better use of it though. :/

Not too big a deal since you're running with so many cores.

BTW - How many cores are you utilizing? I remember you mentioning installing an octocore board earlier in this thread...

I actually lost count of how many cores I'm using. One of the machines I put in actually has 24 cores but I can only utilise 16 of them because Folding only supports 16 machine IDs on one machine.

currently investigating a problem where IE (and programs depending on it) randomly fail to work here... might be related to f@h, so I have it turned off right now.

Well yeah. It uses almost your entire GPU 'power' to fold.

Well i still run at 90-100 fps (downclocked to 3.8ghz for folding stability). While playing ff12 , if i open the battle menu FatH immediately takes the inatiative and grabs the gpu XD

Haha. My graphics performance drops to snail levels with FAH running. Even PSX stutters while doing it.

I guess emus don't request exclusive access for GPU resources. Of course, this could also be yet another difference between XP's HAL and Vista' HAL.

Are you having different results in terms of gfx card load balancing with Folding@home in Vista vs XP masta.g.86?

Never tried any emus with it, but I do experience some lag when moving around the OS (I assume due to Aero rendering needing the GFX card) and when using my TV card (strangley enough only on /8000 WUs) but I started DMC4 with it accidentally still being on and other than loading perhaps taking a second or two longer than it usually does actual gaming was 100% as smooth as it usually is.

My card isn't capable of CUDA, so my only experience with the GPU client comes from my workstation at.... well, work. I don't bother running it as a client anymore because it seems that GPU clients have a shorter deadline now. The card installed in that workstation is an ATI Radeon HD2600 Pro.

The load balancing on XP *seems* to do a better job than under Vista. It could just be that certain games/apps/emus just don't request exclusive access for GPU resources and instead only take what they can get. Doing the latter would cause FAH to not unhook and go into idle mode.
