That $1 is a good bait for the $899 Shipping fee trap.

Its a Buy It Now listing, so the $1 is final.

I wonder why EBay allows sellers to rig the shipping, it cheats EBay out of their commission, they don't collect a commission on the shipping, and that's why some shipping prices are exurbanite.

Yes, I like getting (primarily digital) games on sale @ bargain prices! don't like it? Just deal with it!

Caveat Emptor
Shipping cost information is by no means hidden. It's up to the buyer to read all the details of the sale. I do.

You're missing my point, EBay is screwed out of potential income when sellers do it. EBay only makes money on the net sale price, not the price plus shipping.

DUDE!!!!!

He lives right by my girlfriend's house (15 minutes at the most) and I'm going there this weekend! Someone with an eBay account ask him if it's alright to pick it up to avoid shipping costs. I don't see why that would be a problem, because it would be convenient for me, and the seller. It would be convenient for me because I'm going over there tomorrow, and it would be convenient for the seller since I would save him the trouble of having to wrap up the computer and take it to the shipping company. ****, I would even put in the extra effort and meet him in a public place or even at his home because I am so considerate. I'm such a nice guy. I have to go to Glen Burnie anyways to do some errands Everyone wins.

Seriously, someone ask him if I could do that. If so, **** man, I'm setting up my eBay account tonight.

...or tell him that you live 15 minutes down the street and that you called the local shipping company and they said that shipping for a package that size would be no more than $30 (and even that is too much for that distance).

I vaguely remember reading somewhere on eBay that you could report people using unreasonable shipping rates.

Notice how the description says the cost is $900. By the way, you'd still have to pay through the website beforehand, so he'd get the full $900 before you even went to pick it up anyway. You could probably alert eBay for him attempting to evade eBay's commission costs. He has 100% feedback of nine, but he has only ever bought stuff, never sold it.

That's not worth $900 anyway. It'd be lucky to go for $500-$600, I would think. Used hardware, especially when sold as an entire computer (you'd be better off parting it out), are probably only worth half their real value at best.

You can now report auctions that have excessive shipping, bootlegged games, etc...

If Lord Zedeck is right, I would have to pay the shipping first though and then I pick it up, then he would have my shipping money and wouldn't even have to pay a single cent for shipping. :/
