Renderer question
Okay, so I've been going through Zelda: Wind Waker and I'm trying to understand something. It very clearly is making the decision to render everything that's in-frame, regardless of whether or not an opaque surface is in between it and the camera. So my question is this: is that something that was done as a result of lazy programmers at Nintendo, or is that something that needs to be resolved by the emulation programmers?

Please, I really think somebody should answer this question. In some cases a resolution of this issue, if possible, could provide an improvement of up to 15 FPS.

It's a result of "lazy programmers at Nintendo". There's nothing Dolphin can do about it. Besides, it won't really help cases where an entire island is visible anyway very much - and since the game is able to render that at full framerate on the real cube, there's no reason for the game to spend much time avoiding to render hidden things. |
