Sound question

I've been playing Shenmue and Skies of Arcadia and while the games play well, they sound horrible. The music sounds fine from what I can tell but when the characters talk, it sounds terribly muffled and low of quality. I'm using the nullAICA sound plugin and I've tried changing the buffer to 2048 and 4096.

Also, I constantly hear popping/faint buzzing sounds when playing Shenmue.

Any help will be really appreciated, thank you.

Oh and here's my specs just in case:
Windows XP SP3
Core 2 Duo E8500 4.0 ghz
Evga Nvidia 9800 GT
2 GB of RAM

If you are using .cdi files, then there is the possibility that the sound has been downsampled in order to fit the game on a cd (700mb) from being a GDI (1.1gb). If that is the case then the only thing you can do is use .gdi dumps of the game.

Hey, I have a much more severe problem, I am playing a copy that I downloaded, I understand the missing voice clips and possible downsampling etc. However the problem I have is a constant white noise, it sounds like a Tim Hecker concert as soon as it reaches the title screen. This is for Shenmue 2 btw, Shenmue 1 works swimmingly.

That is triggered by the image makers intro. The intros that the pirate threw into the game uses a cache which is not emulated. You may not even see the intro because of that fact, but they can trigger all kinds of issues. The solution is to buy the game and dump it yourself.

I think this thread should be closed, way too much piracy talk.
