Parasite Eve II on PSP Problems.

I have a us version (SLUS-01042 and SLUS-01055) that work in epsxe and on the hardware fine but whenever i convert it for the psp, it seems to not want to work since i either get a black screen when running it or it freezes on the "published by..." screen..
i have tried with the normal codes and the ones suggested here:
PSX on PSP Compatibility List - TheGamersPress
i have also tried the popsloader but even that refuses to work properly.
where the hell am i going wrong?

Yep, thats correct for the most part, but some US games are protected in the same way as PAL.

i found this thread

i checked that out already but the only patches that exist for PE2 are the EUR ones. no US patches at all.

SLPS-00025 must be used (on both discs) to get this to boot at all. To proceed to Disc 2, save game immediately after defeating Number 9 in Dryfield, save game in Douglas's trailer or Motel Room 6 and reload using Disc 2. Reloading in Motel Lobby freezes at loading screen.
3.10 Pops Works perfectly as single disc eboot. No FMV glitches.
3.11 Pops Works perfectly as single disc eboot. No FMV glitches.
3.30 Pops Works perfectly as single disc eboot. No FMV glitches.
3.40 Pops Playable, but the FMV's are glitchy.
3.52 M33-4 Freezes at the publisher screen.
3.71 M33-2 Freezes at the publisher screen.
4.01: Use GameID SLPS02480

like i said, i've tried all those. with or without popsloader, the SLPS codes just give me a black screen and the normal code freezes at the publisher's screen.

the us version doesn't require subchannel data, and unless the game uses CDDA for music, you can rip it to an ISO file.

Try converting the ISO to pspf.

converting now.
edit 1 - nope. i tested the iso in epsxe and it worked fine. then i converted it and it didn't work on the psp with either SLUS-01042 (disc 1's normal code) or SLPS-02480. With it's normal one, it freezes at the publisher screen and it seems that it's not liking the japanese code at all since CWCheat loads with the normal code but not the jap code and the fact it still gives me a black screen.
edit 2 - it just started working on popsloader with 4.01 pops. at last.

Hey PacoJon you think you could go back and read the rules instead of just hammering the mouse until you are able to post :P

Especially the part about not asking for iso's/warez

JJXB, If it still doesn't work...,
Try these following steps:

1)When converting the game to psp eboot(using Popstation GUI...etc), change the Game ID to SLPS-00025 like what SquallL_Leonhart said...

2)Make sure u have popsloader that has a complete set of pops(e.g 3.11, etc) on ur psp plug-ins and enable it(if you don't know how, watch utube)

3)Place game in PSP/Game (Not GameXXX or Game 150...that is if u have these)

4)go press the game and AT THE SAME TIME, HOLD 'R' while game is starting(showing the warning message/ sony picture/bla bla bla) to see popsloader and select 3.11 pops or u could try other selections like 3.10...

5) After u press it, the game should be ok(hopefully) and to know if it works fine, u can look at ur memory light of ur psp(blinking sometimes means its running.Otherwise, it didn't work and I apologize... )

6)The game should start smoothly until the 'Published By....' thingy right?
That's when u look at memory light. It Showed the 'Published By...' and it should work.

I've been trying to make this game work for my slim for a 5 months! and finally it worked for me today. But if this doesn't help at all, then im sorry... But don't lose hope, u'll get it eventually. : )
