Specific problem with DarkMan's GPUPlayer.
First of all, I realize there's already an old thread addressing this issue, but none of the advice there has solved anything for me. : / What I'm trying to do is work with the REC file Darkman's GPU Recorder 2.0 produced for me. Before anyone asks, I'm running off the P.E.Op.S PSX DirectDraw Soft Renderer for the video plugin, and Eternal SPU Plugin 1.41 for the audio plugin. Both run my ISOs perfectly, so I can't understand there being a problem with the plugins. What happens is, when I try to open the REC file with GPUPlayer, a 'Couldn't Load Plugin' error occurs. I can't begin to know why this happens, as if ePSXe can find the plugins GPUPlayer should too. I recorded under all the proper settings with the recorder and there shouldn't be any issues with the REC file itself. Also, as per the relevant advice in the old thread I removed subTsgMSCD16.dll and subTsgMSCD32.dll from the plugins folder, whereas GPUPlayer is in said folder and the REC file in a Record folder. I'm not sure if I might be missing relevant plugins for the player (I got them from a bulk package of plugins... not from a download of GPU Recorder plugins exlusively), or if the player might be reading a directory wrong somehow. I'm only including all I can because I can't even sort of identify my problem. I can't find ANY other information about this online and the included FAQ tells me nothing. If anyone can take their time to help me figure out what's wrong, I'd really appreciate it. The one recording has a lot of work I'd rather not redo in it, besides the fact that I want to make more videos with this. : / Just to clarify again, my problem comes before capturing/converting the video or anything like that. I can't even open the file. Last edited by Dragonwing; October 22nd, 2008 at 12:54.. Reason: typo |

GPUplayer tries using the plugins that are in the same folder as itself. You could just copy GPUplayer.exe into the plugins folder. For recording REC files, you can do so at whatever graphic quality you like (you can later use another plugin inside GPUplayer at a much higher video quality, plus antialiasing and a smaller window size, such as 512x480, which should be much comfier to record than when you try using fraps on a fullscreen window during regular emulating, which should be expect to induce disk trashing). After youre satisfied with the output of the render window, you can then use whatever method you prefer to acquire it (or making screenshots using F8) into a regular AVI file (FRAPS isnt bad. Game Recorder is a bit better, and allows direct encoding into lossy codecs such as Divx with MP3) |

Those two files where designed/created to help/prevent old OS (win9x) from showing/making an error related to long paths to DLL files plugins), while the emu (or other executable files) tries to read from those dll files, so removing'em kinda stupid action (doesn't matter if using winxp :\ or higer). But that ensures me that you've a plugin pack in which there are so many GPU plugins, and that makes darkman's (BOTH) GPU Dll file+GPU recorder executable unable to detect and read all the plugins found in your plugins folder (just to list'em in the drop down menu), so what to do is creating a plugins folder with less then 10 dll files (including SPU/CDR plugins), had that problem previously .

Worked pefectly, actually. =) Thanks a bunch for the help. I had a REC file I put... well, a lot of time into getting right, so it's a relief to be able to play the thing. Plus now I can make gameplay videos no problem. I'm really grateful; didn't think I'd ever get this figured out.
