ePSXe 1.7 - Run ISO issue
Sup all... Been a minute since I last visited/posted in the forums. I did some searches but found nothing on this issue. I just recently started to play Chrono Cross again (I LOOOOVE this game). Anyways, this isn't really a serious issue, more of an annoyance. But assistance would be appriciated. Issue: I made an image (ISO) of Chrono Cross. And yes, I do legitimitly own the game. I like playing via an image/iso cuz of the greatly reduced access time. So, when I try to use the Run ISO option via the File menu, the game does not load. Just get a black screen. ePSXe does not freeze as I can still hit 'esc' and access the menu items. But, when I mount the image using Daemon Tools, and use the Run CDROM option, it runs without a problem. Reason I would like to use the Run ISO option is cuz I will be playing this at work as well. And I'd rather not have to install DT on my work computer. I used DT Pro to make an image. No special settings were used. Any suggestion on how I can make a working image? P.S. In the past, I was able to use the Run ISO option without issue. Version 1.5.2 and 1.6 worked fine. However, now, 1.6 and 1.7 do not work. Thanks

what format did you make the image in and what version of the game are you playing, the NTSC or PAL?

Sorry, forgot to mention I made 2 images, .mdf and .iso. Both produce the same black screen I mentioned above. I made the iso image using WinISO. And it is the NTSC version.

try making an image in .bin/.cue or .ccd/.img/.sub as shown here in this thread. make sure you keep the main data file along with the subchannel data files in the same directory, dont have them placed in separate folders or anything like that. btw if you make it in .bin/.cue, load the .bin file, if you make an image in .ccd/.img/.sub, load the .img file.

Haha... I'm an idiot. I completely forgot about CloneCD and .bin. I'll give em a try and let ya know. Thanks for the refresher ^^ Come to think of it, I believe I used a CloneCD image last time it worked. Been some years now so I don't remember 100%. But I'll give em a try. **EDIT** That seemed to do the trick. Made a bin/cue image using MagicISO. Thanks again for the brain jolt jonc2006 ^^ Peace

I'm playing through this atm, using CD's, i find they provide the same load performance as an Image, though theres a trick to it, you need to download the creative disk detector, or another similar app which can increase the idle spindown time
