ePSXe stops working after 10 seconds

Hey,

Not sure what my problem is, but when attempt to load either a game or the bios, within the first few seconds it appears to load fine with a splash screen etc, but then several seconds after, the program locks up and I receive the message: ePSXe.exe has stopped working.

I'm using vista x64 ultimate, 4gb of ddr2 800, opteron 1212 dualcore cpu, and a nvidia 8800gt 512mb card. I have UAC and DEP both disabled.

I've tried several different gpu plugins:
P.E.Op.S soft driver 1.18
Pete's D3D 1.77
Pete's DX6 D3D 1.77
Pete's OpenGL 1.77
Pete's OpenGL2 2.9

I have also tried PSXEven with the EXACT same results.

Not sure what the deal is, but any insight in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: the game I used to test was Final Fantasy IX, but the 10 second lock up happens while in the PS bios too.

Thanks,
Daniel

This might not be the problem but i've noticed that Vista has some problems running and closing ePSXe. Have you tried any other PSx Emulators?

RunAS > Admin
Disabling UAC is not enough.

updating your graphics drivers may help as well

I'm also using Vista x64, UAC enabled, DEP enabled, ePSXe not run as Admin.
I never had such issue.

Opteron CPU... could it also require the AMD Dual Core Optimizer?

i've never seen a case where failing to have the optimiser causes a crash.

So the problem seemed to have been an issue with the bios, SCPH1001 didn't work for me, but SCPH1000 works like a charm; all problems solved!
