Crysis settings

What setting would be right for me?
Im getting a directx 10 card soon and so i wonder a few things:
with this fix you can get very high dx10 grahpics on a dx9 card.
Very High Graphics Settings in DX9

Now Crysis: DirectX 10 vs. DirectX 9 - Features at GameSpot tells me that Vista runs crysis slower! meaning that vista is just a slow heavy os but i heard that dx10 have huge difference in performance these tasks then a dx9 card would be. Now the dx 9 card in xp gains better speed than a dx10 card in vista...

I figured that dx10 card would run faster in very high than dx9. (typically dx10 cards are already faster, but im soley talking about the direct x part efficiency)

So I got 2 questions:
Will i get better fps with a REAL dx10 card in windows xp with the very high hack then opposed to dx9? or does the hack doesn't dx10 in any way whatsoever even if it is available, because it's windows xp.

Should i run crysis in winxp or vista? finally. (small question will a e6400 dual core processor+ ati hd4850 bottleneck crysis)?

Q: Will I get better fps with a REAL dx10 card in Windows XP with the very high hack opposed to dx9?

A: Nope. The "hack" just bumps up the in-game settings, which are possible on either DX9 or DX10. They just lock away "Very High" because of one setting that won't work: motion blur. The rest works fine. A.k.a. difference in performance is O.S. dependent.

Q: Should I run Crysis in WinXP or Vista?

A: Whichever works. Shouldn't matter at all. FPS gained in XP is subjective.

Q: Will a E6400 dual-core processor + ATI 4850 bottleneck Crysis?

A: Yes. Actually... what doesn't bottleneck Crysis?

Tip: just run Crysis at High settings then turn Anti-aliasing to 8x with the HD4850. Will make it look better than Very High, and game will run smoother, too.

1 A i get motion blur even with my dx 9 card with this hack... you mean when you turn quickly around yourself for example you see the loss of focus in the image, and it becomes blurred right?

2 a ok so even though i have a dx10 card, i should not make use of dx 10 and run it in xp if i want more fps.

3 a I mean more of the combination, i know a 4850 is limiting my e6400 by some, but im wondering if it will be anything huge.

1) Very High motion blur is different from the other kinds of motion blur. Think... cinematic kind of motion blur. It brings motion blur to a whole new level.

2) Just FYI, I get the same kind of FPS under Vista and XP. If you want it to be even faster, use Windows Server 2008.

3) It's the other way around. Your E6400 is limiting the 4850. 4850 would perform pretty much like 8800GT with Crysis. If you want Crysis to run faster, buy a nVidia card.

this will be a big help for tweaking the game regardless of the card you decide to go with. you should also check the forums on that site for more crysis tweaking as the board users tend to post all kinds of stuff they have found themselves that helps with the performance.
