No thanks.

Any of you have any thoughts?

Comodo Internet Security 3.5.

Its free and features the best firewall on the market. Award winning firewall, and has had the least security leaks of all other good firewall brands at max settings.

It utilizes HIPS, and whitelisting technologies, because prevention of malware and viruses is the first line of defense. So its very effective

Its Antivirus is much improved from the 2.0 beta, the definitions are a lot better and it scans faster and a lot less bugs.

CIS 3.5 is currently in the beta stage though but it has a few bugs.. Nothing major I'm using it and a public offical release is planned in just a week or so once the minor bugs are cleared out.

McAfee sucks.

If your interested

Here is the 32 bit set up

http://download.comodo.com/cis/downl...a_x32_BETA.exe

And the 64 bit set up

http://download.comodo.com/cis/downl...a_x64_BETA.exe

And once again it is in the beta stage, so there will be bugs but they are very minor bugs!

I am perfectly happy with PCtools Firewall Plus, Threatfire and AVG8 thanks.

Just wondered what people thought of AV software which has no offline database and automatically sends a msg to McAfee's server about any files it thinks are strange.

I'm an internet support tech. I spend half my time undoing the damage McAfee and Norton causes on people's computers. I'm half-surprised there hasn't been a class action lawsuit against their crap yet.

PCtools have some crappy software, except for Spyware Doctor and it is still pretty crappy because it uses tons of memory.. Its definition rates are good thats about it, and recently PCtools was bought by Symantec so they are really gonna suck even more soon. No offense but PCtools have a crap load of suck written all over it! >.<

Threatfire is pretty useless also... My Firewall with defense+ enable is completely superior.

I also heard AVG 8 has brought in hordes of problems, and a lot of people actually downgraded to AVG 7 again. Someone told me AVG 7 no longer gets updates anymore, not to sure about that though.. If it does I'd get rid of AVG all together and get Avira or something.

EDIT: And yeah.. McAfee and Norton suck.. They cost money and do more bad than any good.. I would recommend people use Avira for a AV or Comodo Antivirus 3 once the final version is released.. Currently in beta.

I'd have to agree with Spyhop here, McAfee and Norton suck with Norton standing out. For one thing, the friggin' updates are of 50MB and the connection with the server keeps breaking. And, for some reason, it slows my torrents down to 3Kbps! Did I mention Norton in a mammoth memory beast! McAfee on the other hand seems to hog memory for nothing, I had numerous virus attacks with it and have had none since I installed ESET Nod32 (please don't badmouth this, its my old faithful and trusty anti-virus).

For that reason I used eScan in my early days and but now I am using McAfee 8.5i enterprise edition, just download the 60-62mb update file and I am done!

Precisely why I don't allow a Norton or McAfee CD come within 30 feet of my PC!

AVG 8 is vastly superior to the 7. IMO its superior to just about every other AV save Kaspersky... But this is only a hunch based off lack of viruses and their discrete-ness. AV-Comparatives haven't released any recent relevant information. Next batch of results come out tomorrow.

Panda antivirus sucks! I tried this and this is the lamest antivirus ever! It just delete's the effeceted file's without any warning! Even it delete's simple win32 effected file without warning!

But in other hand McAfee 8.5i enterprise edition cleans the effected files, not delete them. That's just great!

I've heard a lot more bad than any good. Google search AVG8 problems, and you'll see so many conflicts its unbelievable. Especially with the new on-access scanner AVG has been bringing in hordes of problems.

I would use Avira free edition if I had to use a AV... Not only is it free, and low on memory resources but the on-access scanner is one of the best, not to mention its definitions and detection rates are a lot better then a lot of AVS, and certainly the best of the frees.

Seems like people don't like McAfee.

I never got any problem with McAfee (after I increased McAfee's firewall's security).

I'm happy with it.

I made this thread wanting people to discuss the concept of this new AV method...not to put McAfee down and say which AV software they think is best. You have all missed the point here...

SCHUMI-4-EVA bro! We all know that! But the problem is everyone around the web do not use the same antivirus! For that reason no one is discusing the point! SORRY if I am rude!
