pcsx2 0.9.4 crashes no matter what I try >.<

Hey everyone

No matter what I try, pcsx2 crashes on me. It does this whether I try to run the debugger, execute a game or run it from cd. Yes, I did try disabling the nloop hack. Yes, I'm running as admin. I am trying to run a known working game from original disc(Disgaea 1).

I also occasionally get the Npptools.dll is missing error when going to the configurer..yes I know Vista doesn't have it and I did try installing that 3.1 net monitor program but that didn't get rid of the error message that pcsx2 will occasionally throw...it doesn't stop me from being able to configure anything.

my system spec:
e8400 wolfdale w/TRUE (running stock atm for stability to check pcsx2)
2x2gb g.skill ddr2-1000
6400aaks wd
xfx 9800GTX Black Edition oc@ 783/1957/2450 (using 177.79 vista 64 forceware)
DFI LP LT X38
Corsair 750TX psu
one of the new samsung sata dvd burners(too lazy to look up atm)

Here is what bugreport says

Yes I know it is reading my video memory incorrectly O.o it is 512mb but I'm guessing it is because of the way vista 64 can dynamically share normal ram memory with the videocard if it runs out(which is why many programs see video memory as 2gig+)? pcsx2 also only see's up to sse3 even though I have a penryn processor.

The SSE3/4 problem can be fixed by updating to the latest DirectX Runtime. Now, concerning your main problem, I don't have a clue as to what might be causing it. Turn on EERec , and also try making an ISO if you haven't done that yet.

Maybe a Mod or some1 else can actually tell you what is causing that since they have more knowledge regarding pcsx2 than me.

Edit : Just checked Compability list and the game is marked as playable in 0.9.5, give that a try and see if it fixes that issue.

I can't update to the latest dx runtime as vista sp1 automatically includes dx10 and dx10.1 requires a registry hack if you're not a tester.

EErec is turned on even though bugreport doesn't pick it up.

I came back to post I did discover my problem as all Pcsx2 plugins do not like my dvd burner for some reason; using a backup drive and/or making an iso with alcohol 120% both worked for Disgaea. I would have posted sooner but I was abusing the poor Prinnies haha, Dooodd!

best regards,

Glad you got it working.

BTW : If the SSE3/4 still is an issue, you might wanna post in Gabest's thread, he might have a solution.
