vgs and wine?

I haven't paid a visit to the message board in a while, so if somebody else has asked this I've missed it, but has anybody tried using vgs with wine, the Windows emulator for linux? It probably won't work, but its just a thought.

While I havent tried it, I have heard the Wine is shaky at best without trying to run an emu inside of an emu. hehe

Well, I gave VGS a try with WINE. Suffice it to say it didn't work. It seems that VGS relies on the advapi32.dll which contains some crypto stuff, so the WINE developers have had some troubles with licensing, but hopefully they will find a way to get around this.

Can VGS work when you manually copied the file "advapi32.dll" over there for Wine?

If there's any chance VGS work with Wine, I think M$ will be screwed - Linux is more compatible with Win9x than WinXP....

Ok, I tried copying over advapi32.dll to my vgs directory. It DID get rid of the advapi32 error messages, but I now have a whole slew of NTDLL error messages instead. I also have three KERNEL32 error messages that I didn't mention in my previous post.

Well let's hope Wine will be improved further. If you go to WineHQ there's some news IBM might be interested to fund the Wine Project development... Of course it's a long shot. If theres's any chance VGS can live on, should give it a try though.
