How-to: make the most out of cheap tablets.

If you think that $50 tablet is so inaccurate that you'd die for a better one, well... try something else first. Don't give up on going "cheap!"

Okay... here's how you do it: open up the tablet, take out the sensor film. Year... the... grid film or whatever you call it, and... put it on top of a smooth aluminum surface (think: computer case side door? Maybe a piece of glass works, too, but I'm not so sure about the glass thing)

Now... put as many layers of papers on top of the film as you want, connect the tablet, and... voila.

I swear the accuracy and feel are going to knock you out! Keep it cheap, folks!

Note: works best for Genius tablets.

P.S.: Did this **** because the Genius tablet I got a while ago started to lag and stuffs. Now she's smoother than ever.

nice ghetto mod. have you tried using red bull as cpu coolant? seriously, add some sugar to thicken it, then slather it all over the hsf. works like a charm

I'll do so... once I've figured out how to exhaust the heat from the 4850 that's being cooled by 4 fans. ;p We can never cool something enough... and this is actually a legit modification that should have been in the specs. The film should be contacted gently by a soft but firm surface (think paper), and on top of that, the aluminum thing was for better signal reception. :9

Well, on some of their tablets, the aluminum piece is there. It's just that it doesn't exist in some others, and... the reception is quite bad when you put the tablet on your thighs (or your girlfriend's thigh... Ahem...), or on a wooden table. As for the paper thing, it's just that you need to contact the film by some other way than a hard piece of thick plastic. I am not sure if this also applies to a Wacom tablet... but if it does, Wacom tablets may be able to achieve perfect traditional-to-digital transfer. I am already getting near perfect transfer from a cheap tablet with this mod. Wacom should be able to do more.

Hmm... I have a wacom tablet sitting in front of me right now... but it's too expensive to attempt to go rambo on it. Though, this is a great idea, I shall have to recommend it to my friends (or remember it if this wacom craps out on me).

ps. check your pm inbox RAP (I'm an impatient man lol)

Replied. ;p Sorry, I was testing this mod out. Working swell so far. No lag... nothing at all. Before, if I just bend the tablet slightly, it would lag at some corner or so (cursor instantly lags forward or backward), now it's smooth as butter.

Heck... I think I just fixed some deadzones as well. The entire surface is moveable now, which is... awesome! To say the least.

Could you post a pic of your setup? I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how exactly this all fits together. You're an ingenious one, RAP.

I'm just pissed because...

1) SE is getting on my nerve... D: Four years worth of delays...? Aww... come on! At least show something new!

2) My girlfriend is away on vacation with her family... (main reason)

3) I accidentally killed the HD4850 because I was so careless of her... She died when I got her to 1000MHz core... soo... oh well, RIP, dear HD4850. I'll torture a HD4870 next. (this comes next week)

Ahh... my big brother wants to try soldering new RAM chips to her, since he has a bunch on his hands. ;p And... that means I'm sending the 4850 back to Vietnam.

Do not worry, I still have a HD4870, and probably... two more? (since I can buy them at $180 each now) And a P5Q-E, and... possibly a Q9450 next. ;p

Why bother paying me when you can do so via eBay? ;p Find a HD4870 on eBay for about $240, then apply the Live Search Cashback to get 20% off, and you'll get one for around HD4850 price.

P.S.: Seriously. You may also get GTX 480 for about $320, and GTX 260 for about $200 - 220. Now that's... progressive! *coughs*

lol Typo. 280.

Anyway, eBay. Use Live to search for "eee," then click the 20% cash back link on top, and then... you can choose to "Buy it now" on eBay and receive the 20% cash back on the item. For instance, GTX 280 sometimes go for $400 each. Just apply the 20% cash back to bring it down to $320!
