Do I need a specific DVD drive format...

in order to read PS2 discs?
I can read PS1 and original Dreamcast CDs quite fine but not PS2 discs.
I was downloading new plugins and stuff (I though it was the DVD plugin I was using in pcsx2) but none work because it was my drive after all not reading the discs.

So I guess that's it.
I'll probably buy a new one tomorrow but I just want to make sure.

Thanks.

If its a CD-Drive then it can not read DVD-ROMs, and you need to buy a DVD DRIVE.
If its a DVD DRIVE, and can't read DVD-ROMs then it might be damaged, and you need to replace it.

RESULTS : You've to buy a NEW DVD-DRIVE.

It is a DVD writer.. but an old one at that.
It can read Discs but cannot write anymore.
I'll check one out tomorrow. Thanks.

try inserting the disc, and then browsing your D: drive (or w/e letter your DVD-drive is assigned to).

if nothing shows up; or it says the drive is empty; then your DVD-drive has a problem reading PS2 dvds.

you'll have to buy another more recent DVD-drive.
