I'm not asking for a release date, but I'd like to know if an amd64 version of epsxe will be released along with the i386 1.7.x version (or later).

Not likely, theres no benefit to using x64 on a 32bit console.

Ok, thanks. I wasn't interested in the speed benefits, more because installing the i386 version on an amd64 linux can be a pain

Please don't take offense from this post, but if it's annoying you so much to have questions about the status of the linux version - enough to post this - then why don't you at least display or post SOME information? Even if it's a message saying "we ARE working on this, we have some issues with X and Y (no detail needed) and will continue to get back to you". That's all I ever want. Maybe a message saying "this month, we will be mostly working on sound CPU" etc. Surely the code doesn't need a COMPLETE rewrite? Hasn't it been almost a year now? I do come here every so often just to see if anything new has been posted for Linux and just seem to come away with the feeling of a middle finger stuck in my face. I know everybody has busy lifes, I work in the IT industry and fully understand how difficult it is to keep everything/everyone 'updated'. But once in a while, it's nice for the developer and end user to see that someone's taken 5 minutes to put up one post to show they care. Take that as you will, it's not meant to be an offensive post. And I'm sorry for waking up an old post, but this seems like the latest "linux update" post. |

Maybe this year (2009). Who really knows when updates would occur?

I'd be happy to offer my expertise as a Linux-based software developer.

Your "expertise" is unnecessary. they team goes at its own pace and will release when they see fit. Otherwise, use one of the PCSX linux ports Quote:

I think it's a very good news there will be a new release on Linux. I hope we will not need old packages. Maybe you should announced what will be in the next version. (vibrations with pads ; Others...) Surely if you communicate, people will stop asking you questions on this emulator I hope that bugs in the windows' version will be corrected in this version too .
