E5xxx (45nm Pentium Dual-Core)

It looks as though the Pentium Dual-Core lineup is going to be refreshed to 45nm. Just like the other 45nm CPUs, it gets a boost to it's L2 cache to 2MB. Since Intel is debuting these at a higher frequency than the original Pentium Dual-Cores, but using the same 800MHz FSB (you'd think 1066MHz), it has a higher multiplier for easy overclocking (12.5x on the E5200). It looks to be marked for $84.

With Core 2's being so cheap, i see this as a reason to beat AMD at the low low end

Just be aware, less cache doesn't favor PCSX2. Or so speaketh the PCSX2 hardware certifier.

Well, to say that it doesn't favor is actually quite an understatement. It... hmm... kind of decreases performance by a fair bit. Say... up to 20%?

It looks like these things will need insane voltage to get to 4GHz.

Traps are sooo cool. Anyway, E7xxx series still occupy the top spot judging from the situation. Hey... who can complain? GT4 is the only game I can't run at full speed. ;p
