Ebay ftw
I never thought of looking to eBay for my new card. I can get an 8600 GT for $100 with MIR. I should see if I can find a better card on eBay.

With an exchange rate of 1,56 to 1 between the euro and the US$, I just paid a friend 110 euros including shipping to get a 9800gtx ... not a bad deal when you keep in mind that the cheapest deals here are roughly 240 euros

All signs are pointing towards a price war in the mainstream segment around $200 between AMD/ATI and Nvidia.
Following previous information that the Radeon HD 4850 will debut in the $200 - $230 price segment later this month, Nvidia today announced that it is dropping the recommended price for its 9800 GTX design to $199 and introduce a new 9800 GTX+ version with 512 MB of GDDR3 memory, also based on the G92 core, for $229.

but that's retail, MIR and discounts etc makes for some cheap cards

If you can find a good seller and buy multiple items from him, you can save a lot of money for S&H. That's how I got my watercooling parts. Retail wise, it would've cost me well over $300. I paid about $240

Many mail-in-rebates never work out. I'm 0-2 at the moment and I go over the what I write on the forms meticulously.

1 was $60 off a Maxtor hdd and the other was $30 of a 128mb Nvidia 4200Ti.

Yeah, I hate them too, but I always get suckered into them for the opportunity to get like $30 off.

...Then you find out that the item is defective or something and you can't return it once the rebate is filed. Bleh.
