Question Would using an Xbox 360 controller for this be possible?

I can't test it myself, since I don't have the money to buy a wired 360 controller at the moment, but, theoretically, would it be possible to map the analog sticks, triggers, buttons, etc, through Joy2Key or something similar, then map those set keys to the controller for ePSXe? I don't know too much about mapping 360 controllers, but would it be possible?

Yes, I don't have a 360 controller myself but many people have succeeded with this. Try the search button.

yep, my friend has both wired and wireless 360 controllers (wireless need a reciever of course) and they work and are configurable through the internal pad plugin. the only thing that wont map are the right and left triggers (bumpers work), i'm guessing because they are analog and the plugin is looking for digital input. you could just map those to keyboard keys in a program like joy2key though and then when you press them in the plugin it will recognize it as the keys instead of an analog control (pretty sure).

You don't need to use Joy2Key. Just plug in the 360 controller and use it as a controller; ePSXe will recognize it. There are Microsoft drivers that are pretty basic, but they work. If you want some better drivers (fully configurable), check out XBCD360.

XBCD360 is no longer supported Hushy, i now encourage all users to use XBCD 0.2.6, which is an evolution on the 360 source. currently its maintained by me (addressing some installation issues) and and spidervenom, though his work load has increased now hes back at uni so not much development has been done on the driver

Has anyone figured out how to get rumble working in ePSXe?

I actually haven't installed XBCD since I last reformatted my hard drive...it's been a while

I have rumble (only tested with Vagrant Story so far) with Dx Joy 1
Big Motor: Constant
Small Motor: Sine

KrossX, set small motor to Constant as well, Sine is not functional in XBCD (for now anyway)

Squall, he said that he has rumble (only tested with Vagrant Story so far) with Dx Joy 1,

mmm, that lead to two choices :

--------------------I---------------------
Dx Joy 1
Big Motor: Constant
Small Motor: Constant

-------------------II---------------------
Dx Joy 1
Big Motor: Constant
Small Motor: Sine

Can anyone provide explanation about that, since I got the two settings working fine with my USB controllers & ePSXe v1.7.0

yes, because the large motor is working, the small motor won't, so you will miss the subtle effects.

Actually, using the Vagrant Story's Vibration selection on the main menu:

Always [SCPH-1150] Dual Shock.

First test with Big Motor: None.

Small Motor: Constant => Very subtle usage of left motor.
Small Motor: Sine => Subtle usage of right motor. (stronger than Constant)

Second test with Small Motor: None.

Big Motor: Constant => Very strong vibration by left motor usage.
Big Motor: Sine => Strong vibration by right motor usage. (weaker than Constant)

I hope this helps... Also, would the FF8 rumble be working now?

*I wonder why I never tested it like this before. Was actually random for me to put Big: Constant and Small: Sine at first configuration* =P

Final fantasy 8 has no rumble, by the way epsxe has poor rumble effects its more or less a strong and weak rumble only while ssspsx has a more varied rumble effect thats why i hope epsxe will use pad plugins to support the ssspsx pad plugins.... the only prob is that the pad plugin kinda crashes when used with xbox 360 controller.... still if epsxe supported pad plugins someone couldve made a plugin specific to the 360 controller because from what i hear its not hard to program a plugin that support the controller

ha, KrossX, it didn't used to, i just confirmed it on my xbox control... i must've accidentally fixed something without realising it :P

lagunareturns, FF8's rumble works perfectly fine, stop loading from a state, load from the battery instead.

I joined this forum exclusively because my MadCatz Xbox 360 controller will not vibrate, no matter what I try... I have the pad settings within ePSXe set correctly, and XBCD 0.2.6 installed, but still no rumble. I've tried Metal Gear Solid, Crash Team Racing and several others, and nothing. Every button and option works... Except rumble. Help, please?

Post a screenshot of your Pad configuration on ePSXe.

Also, does rumble work when tested using the XBCD utility?

And then, be sure to use the latest XBCD installer, since it includes a fix
for rumble on x64 systems.

Here is a screenshot:

<a href="http://s130.photobucket.com/albums/p276/CowboyNinja442/?action=view&current=Gamepadsetup.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p276/CowboyNinja442/Gamepadsetup.png" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I don't appear to have the XBCD Utility.. I have a link to it in the start menu, but it doesn't work, and it's in the file folder.

I installed the latest I know of, 0.2.6
