epsxe 1.70 issue

Ok, this is what i have tried and i am not sure why 1.70 isn't working any longer.

I downloaded the new version and, transferred all my plugins, bios etc. It ran just fine until I restarted. Now I get nothing but a black screen with the controller symbol in the upper right hand corner. I have tried switching and reconfiguring the plugins. I have tried removing the *.dill's that are needed and reinstalling them I have tried re-downloading and xPsxe itself. I even tried unzipping it into a different location and repeating the installation process.

Before you ask, yes my computer is completely up to date. I am running 2gigs of ram an Athlon xp 2100+ and a Radeon 1800+ SLI graphics card. So I can run this emulator smoothly.

Like I said it was running perfectly fine until I restarted. And no, I didn't install anything before i restarted besides epsxe 1.70...

Now, epsxe 1.60 runs just fine.... If possible i would like to get 1.70 running again. Thanks in advance. Any suggestions?

edit: through a little bit of further testing I have found that when running just the bios it works just fine. It is only when loading a game does it hang.

Add ePSXe 1.7.0 ".exe" to the same folder as 1.6.0 just with a different name, it must work.

what game and how are you playing it, disc or image (if its an image state what format you made it in)? make sure your drivers are up to date, especially if you are trying to use the OGL plugins. does the emulator itself freeze or anything like that (does it force you to shut it down via task manager)?

Ask him how he did run his games with the emulator (doubts that he can't even understand how to run/mount an image while in same time his bios works properly )

ok, problem solved.... I did a lot of tinkering... but this is what i did to get it working again. I deleted both 1.60 and 1.70 folders.... I ran CCcleaner to get rid of any oddball files that might have gotten written while running the program. Then I re-downloaded and reinstalled 1.70 I put the bios back and used pete's OpenGL 2.9 driver, i'm using the internal sound Driver... now everything works fine.

I honestly wish I could have figured out exactly what the problem was, but I couldn't. I could only come up with the solution

For those who are wondering while i was testing everything I ran *.bin, *.img, and *.ccd file types... I even tried mounting the image on a virtual drive and that still did not work. I am hoping that my solution works for others besides myself who might run into the same problem. Thanks for your suggestions!!

Just remember that with emulation that your plugins and such may make registry entries of their own. If in doubt when upgrading, remove all 0plugins and clean your registry afterwards, and then reinstall the upgrade package including the plugins as if you haven't seen them before. Emulation is not perfect, so expect to have to clean some house when upgrading between distant versions.
