Eternal SPU Plugin v.1.41

Now that 170 is released is this still the best sound plugin or has it been surpassed by the inbuilt plugin or other third party plugin?

there is no best plugin. in the end it all depends on the game/hardware combination.

Well last time I checked this plugin was the recommended for most games. Is this still the case?

for the most part but like squall said, it depends on the game and your hardware.

not always KOC buffer adjustment wouldn't go astray.

Internal does have accurate sound but it's emulation is still far from perfect. Sound emulation is fine but sound effect emulation (Reverb) does not exist with Internal SPU. Once they add or if they add it it will be perfect. For now I still use Eternal SPU because I do like the reverb emulation with the sound.

it does have reverb and this is specifically stated in 1.7.0s documentation:

"The internal SPU plugin has been updated to the 1.7.0 version. This version includes new effects like better envelope, noise, interpolation, frequency modulation, reverb and better synchronization between the core and the sound.

Hmm thats odd I wonder why it's not working. I used it and in FFIX and many other games I test there was no reverb where it should have been.

OK I believe I found the problem, the reason I wasn't hearing reverb with internal was because I was using save states. It seems when you load a saved state reverb doesn't activate. if I load the game and open a save file directly it sounds fine.

yes, because the save state doesnt contain loaddata for the reverb, sputiming changes or rumble state.

making a new state will work fine though.

Eternal last released a beta of his plugin, v1.50.

But i'll be testing the internal SPU a little more.

we both have it. during the beta testing everything worked fine for me aside from the buzzing that a few others were reporting, it doesnt seem to be showing up in the official release though. everything sounds good to me atm.
