Reducing CPU Consumption
Hey all before i begin let me just say that pcsx works perfectly on my notebook it is a great piece of software but i was just wondering if it was possible to reduce the amount of cpu usage the pcsx takes while running a game at most times it takes up to 100% of my intel core 2 duo 9300 (@ 2.5 ghz) and this just drives the fans inside the notebook crazy |

Well, without sacrificing performance? Not really......

oh well... if that's what it takes to run pcsx then i won't mind though i have to say...its pretty funny that FFX is more system intensive than supreme commander and crysis lol |

Yea, because it is an emulator and not a game made for the PC.

Of course, but the games and the console is not in the x86 language our PCs are in. It takes a great deal of computing to translate the "PS2" language so that the PC can run it.

the best you can do is set the process priority to "low", and also run in Single-core mode. but both those things will probably impact performance. PCSX2 uses 100% of your CPU because it needs all the CPU power it can get. (btw, don't try setting process priority to high, it won't make PCSX2 much faster, but it can cause more crashes)

I almost got confuse with the naming scheme.. Since they will release another 9300 for the notebook and it will be a quadcore. If you care about saving/reducing cpu usage or power consumption then you shouldn't be using pcsx2 in the first place. Most people that are using the notebook they are using the a/c power adapter and hook it up to the power outlet...
