Xbox networking

Anyone here good with setting up networks to the Xbox? Or just good at networking in general? I've been trying to setup this network between my PC and my debug Xbox for a while, but it acts rather funny. You see, the network only works when I plug in the network cables into my router (one going to my PC, another going to the Xbox, and the 3rd going to my broadband router). Now that I'm using wireless broadband (via usb card), the network between my PC and Xbox doesn't work anymore. I admit I'm a complete noob when it comes to this networking stuff. This sucks. Any ideas? Thanks.

i use a wired connection to my router on both my xbox and pc (and my xbox can be a debug xbox). the connection works fine for me when doing stuff through the xbox neighbourhood. i'd say try to stick with wired connections for debugging purposes.

Just a few things you might want to check / read up on:
  • check if you've got DHCP enabled in your modem/router
  • configure your firewall to allow the Xbox's IP address (or disable the firewall)
  • try to ping the different IP addresses (which can be retrieved via ipconfig)
  • if you want to access a share on windows, create at least one user-account with a password
  • Use google, to find sites like Networking your Xbox and Build An Xbox Media Center, Part 2: Wireless Connection

Good luck!

Shogun, first thing..

debugging true wifi to your xbox. this i can tell yah... then yah waiting for problems.
best thing for xbox - pc connection is with wire.

If you dont have a router annymore, but still got a ethernet adapter in your pc.
or on your mainbord. then you can make Cross-Cable connection.

Making ethernet cables is easy. the only thing you need is are the tools.

For normal ethernet cable.

Take the cat5 cable.... make it the length you wanne. strip the end off..
START WITH one side a time.

Then take the colers appart... green / reen white , Yellow / white yellow

Remember in wich collors you take them appart... cut it off so you have a flat piece off connecters about 1cm.
place the socket on it and make it fit with the cable tool.

For normal cables. you do the same on the other hand.
for cross cables you need to switch cable 1-3 and 2-6

so easy it is to make ethernet cables. and for 2 euro yah got very long cables with no packet loss connections :P

Finally got it working

The technique was rather messy, but it works. I just used a second network adapter, then plugged the cables in from both adapters from my PC to the router, then connected a 3rd one to my Xbox.
