chrono cross doesn't work on anythin but adripsx

Hi, so i have the iso for chrono cross, try it on both 1.60 epsxe and 1.52 epsxe with -noauto. it doesn't even show the logo or anything, it just crashes. I try it wth adripsx and it works great. but adripsx doesn't save to mem card with chrono cross and can't change discs,. so I try other emulators, same thing as epsxe. so I finaly try mooby's cdr plugin on epsxe 1.56 and it STILL doesn't work. it says it doesn't support 9660 iso's or something like that, so I convert it to .bin with magiciso and it crashes like before.

anyhelp?

dont convert one image format into another because it will often end up not working. either try playing from the disc or create a new image from the disc in a format such as .bin/.cue, .ccd/.img/.sub or mdf/mds.

well you are going to need the disc if you want to play it at this point, there is nothing you can do with the current image file you have. and if you have downloaded the image you are currently using, you will have to solve this on your own because we do not offer support for piracy here. if you need suggestions on where to get a new copy of the game, amazon or ebay are your best bets. once you do that you can read over this thread so you can learn how to make a psx game image correctly.

at facebook value maybe it does, but unless you have played through that entire game using that image, you cannot be sure that you will not run into issues at some point other than at the startup. some images may appear to work fine but halfway through the game they backfire on you. the only way to be sure you are getting a working image is to make one from the game disc in the correct format. if you do it in the wrong format, you will likely end up with an incomplete image of the game, usually lacking subchannel data, and if you convert a format like that into one like .bin/.cue, that missing data is still going to be missing because you are essentially just making an "image" of a bad image file. if you possess a bad image file there is little you can do to fix it. spending money on another copy of an often expensive game sucks sometimes, (believe me, i know how pricey the good/rare psx games can get), but honestly you dont really have any other options at this point.

what are the chances that would happen to both cds? neither work. I still think (and hope) this has to do with my settings or something, unless partially bad iso's is a common thing.

EDIT: could it be the on\off bit hack thing? I still havn't found out how to enable it.

the odd/even bit hack fixes a freezing issue when playing the game on version 1.5.2, the -noauto command switch method is for people playing it on 1.6.0. (i do not recommend doing this because the game is still unstable). if both discs have been made into images with formats that are not good for psx games, then yes most likely they both would show some odd behavior, though what that behavior is varies. simply put, both discs need to be in a format like .bin/.cue, .ccd/.img/.sub or mdf/mds.

what you need to realize is that if you are using an image that is missing certain data due to the format it is in, the image will not run correctly. this may not be evident at first but at some point you should expect things to fall apart. bad image files are often the result of being made in a format that does not support subchannel data, which most psx games need in order to work correctly.

.bin/.cue, .ccd/.img/.sub, or mdf/mds. the images must be created from scratch with the game disc being the sole source, converting a bad format into a good one will not do anything and this is why you have no options other than buying a new copy. like i said earlier, this thread will show you everything you need to know about how to create working psx game images.
