Beyond Good & Evil 2 in pre-production.

Beyond Good & Evil 2 in pre-production.

According to a story on JeuxVideo (which if true will be our favourite JeuxVideo story ever) Michel Ancel has begun the initial stages of making Beyond Good & Evil 2 a reality. According to their report the game has been in pre-production for the past year with 10-12 people in his team tossing ideas around.

Regretfully, it seems Ubisoft hasn’t given him the go ahead to move into full production as of yet. So it is still possible the game may never be released.

As harsh as it sounds we don’t blame Ubisoft for being wary about funnelling money into the project as the first made them little to no money.

# The first game, however... met with critical acclaim, even though sales were very poor.

Game pretty much confirmed to be more than just in pre-production, now. Teaser was released at Ubidays, which seems to confirm that they've now been given the "go ahead" needed.

Teaser can be seen here :

The "first" Prince of Persia, Sands of Time, didn't sell well either but it had two sequels.

I have all three PoP on the PC along with BG&E and the Playstation 2 BG&E, PoP: WW.

I did buy BG&E after it was discontinued, but PoP, I purchased new, IIRC...

I had a PoP:SoT for the Gamecube but gave it away.

Yeah but Prince of Persia was lovely violent, and it wasn't a new IP. BG&E wasn't as violent, and it was ugh.... cartoonie, so not hardcore

I liked the story, characters and environment settings. Of course in todays standards it's mediocre, but it was great back then

It was the Liberals wet dream! The evil Republicans are using propaganda to keep people down, and this lone, courageous, brave, liberal reporter single handedly fights and defeats big brother!

Its great fantasy for liberals...

I too found the first game to be rather mediocre, but it did have its charm.

I really enjoyed the original. Sure, I wouldn't consider it a perfect 10, but it had an interesting story and cool characters and was generally fun. I was still "hooked" when it ended abruptly. Looking forward to the 2nd one.

It was a breath of fresh air in the stale atmosphere of platformers.

I really like that game. Just wish i hadn't lost it
