Question about my configuration

Hello people
I would know what I must change in my hardware configuration to run PCSX2 faster :

AMD Phenom 9500 : 4x 2200 MHz
Nvidia Geforce 8600 GTS
4 Go DDR2 Corsair
Windows Vista Ultimate 32-Bits

I think I will buy a Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT or 9600 GSO do you think it will change a lot speed ? Did Vista 64-bits can change performance ? thank you very much.

P.S sorry for my poor english I'm french and not speak english correctly :-(

8600 GTS should be enough, but this Phenom at stock speed isn't. You can't only run the less demanding games with it. So either you change it (I guess you got it recently, so it would be a waste of money to do that), or you overclock it, but I don't know if this CPU can handle much higher clocks (3ghz recommended for most games, and that's with Core2)

Sorry for speaking english, it's the only language allowed here

Only in a very few games 8600GTS might limit you on that setup provided you use DX9 mode as these games aren't as GPU intensive using DX10. CPU performance is the drawback in most cases, Phenom 2.2GHz is like slightly behind a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo in performance and often a 3GHz+ Intel Core 2 Duo CPU overclock is required for good/full speeds in lots of games so you can imagine how the worse clocking AMD Phenom part would do then too. Only if pushing that CPU to the limits you might be able to enjoy great speeds in a decent amount games. Phenom isn't really a great choice for PCSX2 users, even an old X2 6400+ for example would do a lot better job.

get a new CPU like Mr. Killjoy said.

you can't overclock phenoms very well, so you're going to need to get a new CPU.

sadly you have an AMD system, so your choice of good chips are limited.

a 6400 x2 would be the best choice, and try and overclock it as much as possible (which won't be much..)

"get a new CPU like Mr. Killjoy said."
Well, I said it was the ideal thing to do, but I wouldn't do it myself, because when you buy a new computer and you're told that you have to change some expensive parts because they suck, it's a bit annoying if you're low on money. (Take it as a lesson for next time you upgrade, gather more info on what you want to get)

That's why I suggest an OC, but I don't really know how they OC... my only experience with AMD pushed me to go back to Intel for the next upgrade ^^'
I chose the Q6600 not only because I sometimes make use of 4 cores, but also because it was known to be a f'cking good OCer, as opposed to AMD cheaper but not-as-efficient stuff

"do you know any method to overclock without BIOS ?"
There are softwares that can do that, but it's not recommended because they often cause only problems. Also, it may not work at all on motherboards that don't support custom FSB settings. BTW, read the manual for your motherboard (BIOS section), on some of them, you must do something to unhide the overclocking options. For example, on my Gigabyte, I don't see the OC menu without doing CTRL+F1, but after that, I have plenty of options

"or if i change what processor must i buy ?"
It depends on what you want to do beside emulation, but I'd say you should buy the best Core2 you can get for a good price, then OC it if you want (but you'll have to change your motherboard too...). For PCSX2, it's recommended to have your cores running at least at 3ghz. Some games require less, but faster is always better in such cases (as long as it's not overpriced).

"and last question (i know i ask many questions sorry) can my graphic card supported a lot of game at full speed if she is combined with a fast processssor ?"
Well, first, processor only takes 2 S
8600GTS card is quite nice for its price, it should be ok in most case, especially if your CPU is good enough to make a difference. Don't buy a new one until you really need it. If you want some boost, you can still try to OC it too, but it's at your own risks.
Anways, CPU is your main problem here

If you can get a C2Q for about the same price, it's nice too. Unless you only play games with your computer

It should be OK yeah, at least for games that are known to run fine on 3ghz Core2.
But maybe you'll want to keep your Phenom in a box somewhere, because someday, you may want to make good use of its 4 cores. For now, a faster dualcore is better for you.

Quad Core support for PCSX2 has been said to have next to nil side effects, so don't count on it. Man, I wish it did have the 50% boost like I often dream of logging on one day and seeing...but it's not going to happen, sadly, due to the PS2's structure.

You can stick the SPU2 on another core, but beyond that you'll kill compatibility before you actually get more than 5FPS.

Yup, the speed boost the latest SVNs on many games is already quite impressive. I like it when there are magic updates like this ^^
