ISO (this is legal, don't delete it) Questions

I ripped my copy of Dragon Quest VIII with dvd decrypter because running it from my disk drive was really loud and ran at a horribly slow speed. Anyway, long story short after compressing my iso and trying to run it, pcsx2 crashed. woo-hoo. help please?

Did you use the right plugin? ISO Plugins? Did you use Run/DVD rather than Run File?

I'm using the right plugin (ii think), linuzappz Iso CDVD 0.7.0, and both the compressed and decompressed iso are invisible if I tryrun ELF file. I've selected the iso in linuzappz (the compressed one gets farther, there is an errer loading message when trying to use the decompressed one). if it makes a difference, here are my basic PC specs: Intel Xeon CPU 5150 @ 3.00 GHz 2.99 GHz (2 processors), 4 GB RAM, using the 32 bti version of vista cuz im running it through bootcamp

try downloading daemon tools and mount the iso with it.
that program creates a virtual CD-rom drive.

so next set your pluging to PeopS CD/DVD plugin, and set it to the drive Daemon tools created.

then try running the game.
if it works, then for some reason Linuzapps isn't working for you..

Don't listen to him laa97.

I had a few things bog me when I was trying to run in Vista (bootcamp) and loading a backup copy of my Kingdom Hearts.

Make sure that all your plug-ins are in the proper places and you are running the VM build. (I had one file in the wrong folder and it was causing my pcsx to crash)

If everything is in order and you still can't boot the ISO or a mounted ISO, then try right clicking PCSX2 and running it in Windows XP SP2 mode.

If that still doesn't work, then try using a different program to rip the ISO.

Hope it helps.

Off topic...
You are using a workstation CPU to run PCSX2? O..O

OT:
What video card do you have? It might be the video card that is giving you the slow speed issue.

PS2 emulation is very intense, much more intense than Crysis in some games even. :P

Whoa... so many suggestions and nobody noticed, that you are using the wrong tool to rip your game!? You are using a DVD Movie Ripper and it will probably mess with your game iso.
Rip it via Nero or alcohol 120% (another tool, like optics suggested) and it shouldn't make any problems.

You sure? DVD decrypter copies an iso off any type of dvd, I think. Of course, then again, I got this advice from what may have well been a 10 year old on a youtube video. I'll try alchahol, I guess.
