Favorite Books?

Most of the text we read on a daily basis comes is in the form of a few hundred pixels, but sometimes we still like to read primitive books printed on paper. Lately, I have been getting into reading a bit more. I've been spending too much time on the computer, and I actually think its hurting my eyes, so I need something else to do with my spare time.

So far, in my life time, the best books I've ever read have been:
-The Giver, and
-Johnny Got His Gun (Which is also an excellent movie btw).

What are your favorite (Non-computer!) books?

The best thing i've ever read was a Visual Novel called "Narcissu"
but that was on teh computer :P
i havn't read much "real" books.. I'm sure theres some good ones out there, but with my ADD i can't read more than 1 page without my mind wandering... So it takes me like an hour to read about 10~15 pages; so it takes me forever to read something like a 200 page book.

John Grisham's books are always pleasant to me. Right now I am reading an English book called The Summer Lovers by Hollis Alpert. It's my first English reading and it's good so far. =D

I love Tom Clancy's books and recently also discovered that Matthew Reilly is a pretty skilled authour aswell.

I have read Hunt for the Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, Sum of all Fears, Debt of Honour and Without remorse (and any others I may have missed in between) and I found them all really good....although I suppose a 1000 page book with 6 pages about a nuclear bomb is not for everyone (Sum of all Fears).

I have only read Ice Station by Matthew Reilly but it was also really good. In fact I need to go and find another of his books to read.

Timothy Zahn's 3-book followup to Star Wars is also pretty good.

Catch 22 by Joseph Heller is an insane nonsense book...it's really hillarious...but only if you can find nonsense funny.
Yossarian Lives! XD

I really need to try a John Grisham book one of these days.

Jurrassic Park, Lost World, Timeline, Airframe, Prey, Congo, State of Fear; all by Micheal Crighton

The Lord of thee Rings bt J.R.R Tolkien

Vertical Run by Joseph Garber ( awsome book, highly reccommended)

Any book by Brian Jaques

First 4 Harry Potters (the last ones sucked big time)

Anything by Jules Verne

Every Book by Clive Cussler (dirk pitt ftw)

Digital Fortress (a must read for tech heads) and Deception Point by Dan Brown

Books I hate:

DaVici Code:.......I hated this book.......I mean the book dragged on for far too long, etc etc...meh.....this book was not worth the hype

Just finished Diary of Adrian Mole: The Cappucino years (there are like another 4 or so before)... pleasant, comical, mild.

Favorite books.. hmm...
I really like the Anthony Horowitz ones... Raven's gate, night rise, and there was a third one... cant remember the name. Then there's the Sabriel trilogy which were also really good.

I usually hate Autobiographies by the way, but Lance Armstrong's It's Not About the Bike : My Journey Back to life, was really good.

Alexandre Dumas's , The Three Musketeers is a hard read, but a good one.

... well I have too many books I like for me to select one. Duma's works are good as Schumi mentioned (personally I prefer the count of monte cristo), Jules Verne is good as well,as is Jose Saramago (Literature Nobel prize 1998). For much time my personal favorite was Isaac Asimov The Foundation series of seven books. I have also enjoyed the Fantastic Literature genre a lot.

I only have The count of Monte Cristo in german...I would rather read in english so I still need to get in english.

I also need to try read The Man in the Iron Mask again sometime...last time I had to stop reading it (and then missplaced the book) due to my School Finals so I never finnished it and therefore did not mention it.

Both books by Alexandre Dumas aswell by the way if you had not guessed that.

I read a number of philosophy/religious books, I like some political books, Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly, as well as Rush Limbaugh, some Tom Clancy, Harry Potter, and occasionally some sci-fi.

.Tomorrow, When The War Began
.The Godfather

I haven't really read a novel in 3 years

The last book I read was The Gates of Fire, which was a semi accurate retelling of what transpired in the Battle of Thermopylae.

The Dune series was pretty good however the new novels by the son of the original author aren't up to the calibre of his father's work.

I used to be a big fan of the dragonlance series. My favorite in the series were the original Chronicles trilogy with the War of the Lance, then its follow up centered around the 2 twins the Legends Trilogy, the follow up to it Dragons of Summer Flame and the Legend of Huma.

The Scary Stories trilogy. I originally read them as a child, but every once in a while I find myself going to the local library to get them again. That's how much I like them. I never get tired of reading them. It's supposed to be a children's book, but it has some mature scary stories in them that I think shouldn't be considered for children. Plus, the illustrations are what makes those books extremely disturbing, every story has one really scary/disturbing image that really helps set the mood of each story. I never understood why they were made for children. :/

Next on my list is the Alphabet of Manliness. Every heterosexual man/butch lesbian woman should have this book in his book collection.

I also still read a bunch of kids books every once in a while, mainly the Hardy boys books by Franklin W Dixon, I love those things.
NOT THE CASEFILES ones though....those suck...I mean the originals and some of the new ones, but not any of those in the Casefiles series.
