Oblivion Starting problem

When i go in and hit new-game, it says "start new game? Yes-No" hit yes, it just exits outta that, to the regualr menu and does that loop over and over, and my save games got erased, cause i reinsatlled windows after formating.

Did you try to reinstall the game?
Are you using patches? DLC? Expansions?

Start first with the game vanilla with nothing else, at all. See if it works, then install other stuff gradually.

what i can suggest is reinstalling a vanilla copy and trying that, no patches, nothing. then slowly reinstall everything in this order.

Oblivion
Patches
DLC's (if you have any)
Shivering Isles (if you have it)
ALL Unofficial patches (mod patch if you have DLC's and SI patch if you have SI)

do one at a time making sure it still works

Give up and find a game that's actually worth the trouble...

Try without the patches, if it works its because of that patch...

Did you by any chance changed video cards/drivers after installing Oblivion? Oblivion I think doesn't really like that. I suggest removing all traces of your own drivers.

In Vista, never install any game into the Program Files directory...always install outside of it as there is some crazy protection for the Program Files directory. Also the DLC's will not neccessarily work on Vista...for some people they do, others they do not.

theres no protection on program files at all >.> people just don't have a clue how to use Vista..... its just an administration elevation issue.
