Try DVD Decrypter too. Just set it to read mode and click the big button .

Dummy Check 1 :

Does your computer have a DVD drive? You might be trying to load a DVD to a CD-Drive.

Dummy Check 2:

If you have a DVD drive, does it support dual layer / 9 discs?

the problem is that my DVD drive (yes its a DVD drive) doesnt register the disk and when i try to go and rip it (ive tried with DVD decryptor and the updated ImgBurn) it says that a medium is not present. It could be that my DVD drive doesnt support the disk type but i dont know how to check.

Well, MGS3 is mulit layer, so if you have a really old drive, it might not support it.

it doesnt. I probably wouldnt have been able to play the game well anyway. Its probably high time to go out and buy another PS2 (my old one broke) or PS3 then i could play MGS4 when it comes out also.

Uhm, if you don't own a PS2 in working condition you can't use the emulator anyways.

Yeah, it is, he's asking how to rip the Iso so he can play it, if not, then there is no reason to rip a game ISO, unless you want to store it on your HDD? But if the DVD is in perfect condition...no reason too.

ripping the game to iso does have a point, reading from an ISO creates much less of a drag on the emulator than a dvd does.

Yes I know it does, but if his PS2 is broken, he can't get his bio's, so he can't play, that's all I meant.

Then it's just probably the DVD doesn't like his drive.

4.24gbs "used space" on the disc.

Looking at torrent sites the substance version is dual layer at around 5gbs.

So MGS3 = single layer, MGS3:S = dual layer.
