I'm having the same problem as the other guys. I've tried everything they have said in this thread and nothing seems to work. I always get the same error message "1m sub-circuit board is not installed" as the others have said. Anybody know anything else possible to try? Thanks everybody.

Saying "works fine if you're not a n00b" isn't particularly helpful...

Anyway we all know by now that we can manually change to Flash 128k every time we play one of these games in order to solve the problem. But I thought the point of the vba-over.ini was to make it automatic, so we don't have to do it manually every time.

So, does anyone have any idea why vba-over.ini works for some people and not others? I know, I know, this is the part where Squall and several others chime in with "It works for everybody who didn't do something wrong." OK, that's fair. Then let's see if we can help each other figure out what we did wrong.

So I've downloaded vba-over.zip. And I've extracted it into the same folder where VisualBoyAdvance.exe lives. I've even checked the Game Code under File>ROM information and made sure it matches the Game Code listed in vba-over.ini. So far, so good? I'll take it a step further: VBA "thinks" it's working. I go to Options>Emulator>Game Overrides and it has the right settings, the right game code, Flash 128K. The only problem is that when the game starts, it still says "The 1M sub-circuit board is not installed." and when I try to save the game it still says "Save error. Please exchange the backup memory." Oh yeah, and I already deleted all the old .sav and .sgm files.

Can anybody tell me what I'm missing?

the ini lists settings for all known (at the time) versions of the games. thats not to say new versions haven't been released.

.....Spacy has actually got a save type/size detector working in vba-m... it might be possible to turn it into a functional autodetector.

if the game was run prior to downloading vba-over, then the battery file must be deleted so it can be saved in the right size.

Download
http://forums.ngemu.com/attachments/...3-vba-over.zip

unpack it into the same folder as the VBA application.

if you have run the game before, go into the battery folder or wherever the roms are stored and delete the Pokemon save file (you want to delete the 64KB file)

i was having this problem as well with the 1m circuit board message. after adding the ini file, i moved the pokemon game file into the vba file and deleted all the old save files and it worked for me. if the pokemon game file is in another location other than the vba, will it cause this error message? sorry in advance for being a noob

Kudos to whomever made this. It works so well and problem free. I'm just so thrilled that I found about this when I'm pretty much almost done with the game.

Any way to save individual pokemon? Or is that out of the question like, you know, a working rom?

Also, it kinda seems like people here get blasted for not knowing everything about YOUR program (which you clearly don't yourselves) or for not reading the sticky topics which off mere speculation.

Save individual pokemon?!
What are you talking about?

If you can't do that in the game, how do you spec to do it on an emulator?

As far as i know VBA is not OUR property unless we all are "Forgotten".
And we do use the programs we comment, that's why we know what we are talking about.

That's because, in a forum, you're suppose to search and read before you post.

okay, i see what people are saying but my problem is based from my own ignorance of the emulator world. i downloaded the vba-over.ini thingy and now i'm suppossed to do something with it, BUT, my visual boy advance is on my desktop and i can't find a folder with it anymore. i did find a directories thingy on the system which allows me to browse and reset stuff. the options include: rom, gba rom, battery, save game, capture. do i put the vba-over.ini in one of these? is there a way to get back the folder or do i need to redownload the visual boy advance? i've just started playing it so restarting isn't an issue. also, i don't mind switching to the 128k each time before i play pokemon. (but if i do, should i leave it on automatic or switch it to flash?) i'm dumb so please respond in a simple manner step by step so even someone who's never used a computer before could understand. thanks.

Maybe because VBA's exe file is on your desktop folder?
If not, that's just an icon so you should check its properties to see where is it pointing at...

No.
You have to put it in the same folder where VBA's exe file is.

If what i said at the beginning does not work, try using your OS's Searching function...
If that does not work, then yes. You'll have to redownload VBA.
