Save state isn't supported for NDS games, only GBA games.

Use in-game saves. If you don't know how to use them, then I assume you don't have a DS, the original game, or both.

Tried to save and load with the options that appear when you right-click with the mouse? That's save state. If you really did try to make a in-game save, then say what version of no$gba you're using and what kind of error you got (if any)

And if you are using v2.6 or prior versions you also need to use the correct save type (v2.6a has auto select save type function) Read the stickied FAQ to know hot to set the proper save type EDIT: and usually games let you load only at the beginning, so you need to reset the cartridge to see the LOAD or CONTINUE option (note that I haven't played any pokemon games on DS) |

Also, under the "Options" menu of the emulator, click on "Save Options," so that you don't have to change the save type each time you play the game.
