Save state to in-game save?

Hello! I've recently started using Desmume and I'm playing Pokémon Blaze Black. I've been using save states because it was recommended to me by a random internet person.

Everything was going smoothly until my pesky little brother decided to save over my save-state for whatever reason. Fortunately, I had also saved in-game so I was able to recover my game, eventhough I was sent back a bit. I've been trying to increase the Experience multiplier to make up for lost time, but apparently cheats ruin save states.

So basically, I want to get rid of the state saves. In short, if I start up Desmume, there is no in-game save. When I load the state save, the in-game save is there. Is there a way?

Thanks in advance!

Correct me if I misread anything here, but..

Have you simply tried loading your save state, then saving in-game, and resetting via Emulation -> Reset? Or is that what you meant by "start up Desmume"?

Yes, that's what I meant and no it doesn't work I can't seem to access the in-game save from outside the save state, if that makes sense.

I'm pretty sure the save data on your savestate is corrupted. In other words, you'll have to start from scratch.

So when you've followed those instructions...is there a .dsv (in the battery folder if you're using the latest version) that has a modified time which is the same time as you made this new in-game save?
Because that really is what should be happening.
Perhaps also try and use the Export Backup Memory function after you've made an in-game save, this should provide you with a .sav of the new ingame save. Then first set the specific savetype of the game and then use the import backup memory function on the new .sav at the main menu of the game (the menu where you would pick the continue option for an in-game save) and use the reset function, this should load the .sav as the new in-game save incase it somehow wasn't being recognized before.

Also the in-game save you see when loading a save state doesn't mean there is an in-game save, it merely means that there was an in-game save at the time the save state was made (that's how save states work, they don't reflect accurate data, they're basically an image of everything and anything that was present when the state was made), likely this since got overwritten by your brother starting a new game.
