ePSXe mouse problems

Hey guys, I was hoping maybe you guys could help me with a problem, see I've got my HP Pavilion g series laptop with Windows 7 hooked up with ePSXe. I used an HDMI cable to use my 46" flatscreen as a second monitor and I got the game to only play on the big screen, so that problem is solved. My new problem is this:
I want to be able to use my mouse on my laptop, while a friend plays the emulator on the big screen. Is there any way I could fire up the emulator AND retain the use of my mouse on the laptop?

Thanks for the help, guys

Try playing ePSXe in windowed mode.
I have a feeling its unlikely to work as the window requires to be active for DirectPlay to work.
