FF9 - Holigans PPF - Controller doesn't work

Hi,

It seems the only PPF out there for FF9 UK PAL is the Holigans one (which has the trainer at the start; irritating).

Unfortunately, it says which buttons to press but it's like my controller just isn't working.

I've used both Harakiri pad (worked for FF7) and the Lilypad (worked for FF8). Neither allow me to proceed past the trainer first screen.

Does anyone know how I can get this working? (the PPF is applied by Pete's CDR plugin; the disk is the original being run from the drive; used this approach for FF8 just fine)
