Firefox showing weird text

Ive recently had a weird issue with Firefox. Whenever I visit Google or Twitter, I get garbled text as in the attached image. And whenever I visit Youtube, it will only show as Text and Hyperlink, no CSS or styling exists.

Have tried reinstalling/updating Java/Flash but nothing seems to resolve, what could be wrong?

Set character locale in firefox to utf/western/autodetect, enable 'basic page style' layout and purge the cache.

And just in case, update firefox.

Clearing the cache or setting the encoding to Western-ISO8859-1 didnt work, have already updated to version 13.0.1 and Firefox says its the latest. Changing the encoding just seems to show a different set of garbled text, but its still not showing the webpage as required...

Its odd as only Google and Twitter have this problem. Youtube is now showing properly, possibly as a result of clearing the cache.

I will very, very, very rarely get a page like that when trying to download something that I end up using Internet Explorer for.

Pretty worrying as to how random the websites are it affects. It displays the main Youtube page ok, but the Login screen appears garbled as above.

Have you tried starting firefox in safe mode? That would rule out the possibility of any plug ins/addons causing issues. If it works okay doing that, start and normal mode and on-by-one disable plug ins and addons until you find that problem.
