Need help choosing an emulator
TL;DR: Every emulator I've tried lags/skips/audio quality is poor. The one that works best so far is Emurayden but it's in Spanish and still isn't that great. My computer may/may not be the problem, but I'm thinking it isn't. Graphical/Audio quality of the game and how 'busy' it is doesn't matter, every game I've tried has equal amount of same problem. ROMs also subject to these problems. What would you suggest/do you think it's my computer? --------------------- I understand you've all seen this question everywhere and you're probably getting tired of it, but I'm not simply asking for which emulator is the best. The thing is, I've downloaded several emulators, but I seem to be having trouble with all of them. Whether I'm trying to run Final Fantasy IX or something as low in graphical quality as the first RPG Maker, all of my games have a heavy amount of lag. It skips, freezes, the music will completely pause for several seconds while the game continues moving, etc. It doesn't vary from game to game, either. The exact same amount of freezing, lagging and audio problems on all of my games. I know it's not my discs because not only are most of them in great condition, but I've downloaded their ROMs as well and they're having the same problems. I don't think it's my computer because some emulators will run my games better than others, though they all do experience the freezing and lagging and whatnot, and because, as I said, it doesn't matter how graphically heavy/how much is going on during a scene, they all have equal amounts of the same problem. I also remember having an emulator some time back that played perfectly on this very computer, but I had it stored on a flash drive and have since lost it and can no longer remember the name... So far the one that plays my games best is an emulator called 'emurayden', which runs relatively smoothly except that it's slower than it would be on the console, it still occasionally pauses while I'm playing and audio is constantly skipping and even sometimes looping the same note several times. It's also in Spanish and since I can't read the language I can only just barely navigate it from clicking things and learning what the word means. So, you all have more experience with this than I do. Is there an emulator you could suggest that might work better for me? I remember reading that even the 'best' emulator may not play every game perfectly, so I might need to have several different ones for different games. Or does it sound like this is a problem with my computer? Should I clear up space? Would changing the emulator to a higher priority help at all? Or is my computer simply not good enough? |
