Emulation problems on Dolphin 2.0
I need help. I do not know how to fix this but every time I open up Dolphin and run a game in OpenGL I get this message "The instruction at "-x--------" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read"." and when I choose Direct3D9, my laptop freezes up. Then my third option is Software Rendering which it will play the game but the only problem is that it runs so slow. Is there a way I can fix any of these errors? The game I am trying to run is Sonic Gems Collection. My operating system is Windows XP Service Pack 2 version 2002 and the laptop is a Dell Inspiron 5100. I tried running the 3.0 version but it seems to have bigger problems: freezes the laptop in OpenGL and Direct3D9 and runs so much slower on Software Render. The computer is Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.40GHz, 2.39GHz, 512MB of RAM.

Unfortunately, it seems your system is a bit too limited for Dolphin. The only thing I recommend is updating your drivers for your video card and update Directx. You should also be upgraded to Windows XP service pack 3.

Well what he means was it's basically all round weak. Very weak actually by the standards of what we have now. And Dolphin wants a strong computer. Slow gameplay is basically a given with such a system so you won't be fixing that wherever you experience it.

Okay well I upgraded to Service Pack 3 and I have my DirectX updated and I can get it to stop freezing in DirectX mode but when I start the game it only has a black screen. Is there another emulator that will work on Windows XP or a different version of Dolphin that will work for me? I don't think i'm getting another laptop till like two or three months, depends on when my dad gets his retirement money. But right now I'm stuck with this laptop and my GameCube is broken and i'm just desperate to play this game again.
