I would mention two possible reasons: The first is called SiS 300/305/630/540/730. Try using PEOpS Soft gpu instead of a hardware plugin or buy a GeForce. The second might be your "Lazy Upload Detection" fix. Disable it and test if it helps. |

The third might be off-screen drawing. Pete said that FF8 isn't really happy with much off-screen drawing (which leaves us in a quandry as you need it on 2 to see the battle menus)

ok thanks for the previous help...i got the problem w squall not showing up on the world map fixed. but in doing so, ive created another problem..it seems that although i can read + access all the menus fine, theyre now only 2-tone and have no borders...anyone know what i should change to fix this? heres my current settings: Plugin: Pete's DX6 D3D Driver 1.1.71 Author: Pete Bernert GFX card: SiS 300/305/630/540/730 Resolution/Color: - 800x600 Fullscreen - [32 Bit] Textures: - R8G8A8A8 - Filtering: 6 - Hi-Res textures: 0 - VRam size: 0 MBytes Framerate: - FPS limit: on - Frame skipping: off - FPS limit: 60 Compatibility: - Offscreen drawing: 2 - Framebuffer texture: 0 - Framebuffer access: 0 - Alpha multipass: on - Mask bit: off - Advanced blending: hardware Misc: - Scanlines: off [0] - Unfiltered FB: off - Dithering: off - Screen smoothing: off - Full vram: off - Game fixes: on [00000803] thanks...d |

Right. First off, do you have the latest drivers for your card, and what special game fixes are on?

well, i just double checked and i *do* have the most recent drivers for my card..the only special game fix im using is the "bit hack" which says its required for epsxe 1.5.2 and above...although i tried it without but it didnt do any good. its not a huge deal, though, as the game is still well playable. the menus just dont look as good as they should. |

The odd/even bit hack is just for ePSXe 1.5.2 and .older. (not above)... but since you said thats the issue ill leave this as cultural comment )
