If you have a blank disc to spare, I'd suggest trying to make self-boots.

("bootcd 1.2" refers to the Utopia boot disc and "SWAP" refers to the activity of removing one disc from the disc drive and replacing it with another disc.)

Exclamation Chankast 0.25 crashes

Hello,

I am using Chankast Alpha v0.25 with a CDI self-boot image (hacked with Fastboot) of 18 Wheeler (US) mounted with D-Tools 3.44.

The problem is, EVERY time I try to run the emulator crashes.

My setup:

MSI KT6V
AMD Athlon XP 2600+ @ 1917MHz
512MB DDR400
NVidia Geforce 2 MX 400 AGP 64MB SDRAM
Realtek AC´97 Audio
164 GB SATA 7200 Hitachi HDD
Windows XP Pro SP1 (NTFS)
Adaptec ASPI Layer v4.6 (1021)
Chankast: CDRom Interface ASPI/Input Interface by ELSemi
D-Tools: Safedisc (ON) Securom (ON) Laserlock (ON) RPMS (ON) Analog audio (OFF) Lock DLL (OFF) Automount (OFF) Autostart (OFF)

Thanks in advance.

Problem solved

I finally figured out that I was using a bogus dc_flash.bin. Replaced it and now Chankast works great.

Just a question: is there a way to rip the annoying intros on some self-boot DC images?

Help!!!!!.. How Do You Re-dummy A Dummied Game Already And Make It Self-boot.. I Think I Tried Everything To Selfboot This Game After I Changed The Dummy File And Nothing Seems To Work. I Changed The Dummy File So That It Could Be Much More Bigger And More To The Edge Of The Disk. But After I Did This And Selfboot It The Game Wont Load At All. It Only Loads Up To The Big Blue Sega Screen And After That It Just Restarts And Restarts. Please Any Help Would Be Appreciated. Thank You

When I make game bootable using this tutorial:

use Fastboot, which doesnt use the CD-burner, you just need to:

1. mount the image (on daemon is better)
2. copy the CD content to "fastboot\Data" folder
3. copy 1st_read.bin and ip.bin from "fastboot\data" folder to "fastboot\" folder (if there is no ip.bin there is no prob)
4. run binhack with setings
4.1 binary file = 1st_read.bin
4.2 bootsector = ip.bin
4.3 msinfo = 0,0
5. after binhack copy 1st_read.bin and ip.bin to data folder again
6. run b2b_game.bat

the game will be bootable but without any audio tracks. But is there some kind of tool that let's you convert the game to bootable one+with audio tracks?

Automatic and Perfect Way discovered

Ok, Boys. So I've been searching for a while in the net... and I found this way for selfbooting a DC Image... I thing this works for EVERY game, and also creates a PERFECT copy of the original image, bootable, with sound tracks and aaaaaal the rest ! For me, at least, it works perfectly allways.
- Just look for and download bin2boot.
- Than mount your image using Daemon tools.
- Via "Iso Buster" or "WinIso", convert the mounted image into a .bin file, using a RAW extraction. A .bin file will be created wherever you whant.
- Google for bin2boot guy (In case you don't find both of the programs in the same place, wich is very likely)
- Launch Bin2boot guy and a little dark blue window will appear.
- Just drag and drop the .Bin file into the bin2boot gui mini window and the program will automatically convert your image into a selfbooting one! It's that easy and you don't have to burn anything or manually copying files! eh eh

Well, after that I guess all of you allready knew of this and didn't tell cause it is some sort of crap or it makes problem... isn't that so?
I'm sure averytime I discover something interesting, it is not... snif...
Aniway I use and like this metod, all the others look to me having some kinda problem, side effect or thake too much time to be completed... dunno, maybe I'm wrong.
I hope some of you find it interesting and usefull!

Exclamation Stuck!

First of all, thanks to Chanka Team (un trabajo brutal chicos! ) and to this forum. Lots of great info to learn before messing with someone's patience
Second, is anyone stuck with fastboot or ExoBoot? Because when i try to make selfbootable Ecco (which contains only 0.bin nor 1st_read/Ip.bin) and Soul Calibur/SFIII 3rd St (as i did whit DOA2LE successfully, thanks ngemu ppl) it gets wrong in some process phase. I mean, the compilation from the Data folder is done great but when bin2boot starts after the data.iso was made it stops! saying nothing.
Anyone noticed and/or got rid of this?
Help appreciated folks,
Cheers from Barcelona!

look for CDmage if it shows 2 sessions on it 1 data or /1 audio and 1 data it might allready be selfboot .2nd should be iso

binhack

The program will run, and it will ask you for the name of your executeable. Type 1st_read.bin. then it will ask you for the name of the boot sector. Type ip.bin. If your program is based off the the Windows CE develoment kit, it will not ask you for the off set number, After this, is done, you will have your hacked ip.bin, and hacked 1st_read.bin. Now you can move the new hacked 1st_read.bin file back to your "data" directory. You are now ready to make the image to burn.

Special Note: It _IS_ possible that the program you are trying to burn will have an executable that is NOT called 1st_read.bin. Most of the time it will be, but in the case it is not, simply substitute the name of the executable file in the document where ever you see first read.bin*** =0.bin
try that?
